We had dinner with friends at the Tennessee Tavern in March. It is a small, dark restaurant with a fun atmosphere. The waiter helped us to choose food, which is good as the portions are huge. We shared platters of pickels + Cheese, giant pretzel, perogies, cabbage rolls, schnitzel and beef. All super good but very rich. I didn’t recognize any of the wines on the list, but the house wine was actually very light and delicious. We had a really fun time and all enjoyed the meal. It is busy, so do make reservations.

Location: Right on Queen west in the Parkdale neighbourhood.
Décor: If you just looked at the décor, you would be deceived. It looks like a strange combination of a drinking dive, country bar (country music is playing), but it has a strange mix of whatever took the owner's fancy such as Catholic church religions icons in the front room, or world flags, a wood eagle or a rocking horse.
Food: We came for breakfast, and tried a combination of pickles, cucumber and dill, eggs, bacon, different types of sausage, bacon, and perogies with sour cream. Strange as it seems, it all works well.
Service: Service was attentive and professional with no issues. There was a bit of a gap to wait for the meal.
Washroom: In the basement, down a dark scary, smelly hall.
Overall: A good experience when you open your eyes to something different.

The food was hearty, home style and tasted great. Service was ok. Atmosphere was interesting and fun but a wee bit loud. I suppose that happens when the restaurant is full. Would go back.

Parkdale Gem. I have always been curious to try this local establishment. I was very surprised when I entered the door. The ambience was inviting and comfortable. The menu was very eclectic and confusing at first, until the waiter explained the various dining choices. We decided on the smoked sausage basket, cabbage rolls, cheese platter, sauerkraut, beef stew and perogies. The meal was awesome. There was so much food. Somehow we managed to eat it ALL. I will definitely be returning to try new items on the menu in the future.

This was our second time dinning at the Tennessee Tavern. We were a party of three on a Saturday night, the place was hoping, we were seated by a friendly server who first of all took her time to explain the menu to us.Our dinner choice was the Tennessee Platter, containing a variety of two differently prepared schnitzels, different spiced sausages, eggs, sauerkraut as well as smocked meat and pickled onions. The presentation was mouthwatering. As a side order we had pierogi, very tasty and fresh made. The quality of our meal was just outstanding, we ended up taking half of the meal home. This would not be a place if you plan a romantic dinner, the place is very loud for a romantic conversation.
