“Good for one night maybe a weekend - great value for money”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 27, 2009

We had 2 rooms that were on the same floor but not next door to each other so my mother and 2 children were in one and we and the third child were in the other. Our visit was to go to the baseball game and the proximity to rogers center is great, a short walk. For the price it is great value and th best part is the breakfast, great service and food. Is it something special no, but was it comfortable for one night yes. We are good sleepers so the nightclub next door wasn't an issue for us as reported by others, but we did have to ask reception to move the group of people who kept congrigating in the corridors to move along when it was approaching midnight. This was done and thanks to the staff for this. The rooms were normal size and beds comfy, not enough linen in the room for the sofa beds (in either room). The valet parking is very steep but unavoidable. Staff were very friendly, thumbs up you guys.

We stayed at the new Hilton Garden Inn Toronto Downtown for 3 days in July. We chose the hotel based on the price and location. It is located in the entertainment district, close to clubs, bars, restaurants, theater, Rogers Center and the CN Tower. While it is a few blocks from the subway, there are streetcar stops at the end of the street.

The staff was always very friendly. The lobby, pool area, rooms and hallway were all very clean. The pool and hottub are small, luckily there was only one other person there when we used the facilities. The room has a refrigerator and microwave. Wireless internet is free which is always appreciated. Parking is valet only (would prefer the option to self park).

Overall, a great stay and I would definitely stay there again, especially in the summer when there are tons of nearby patios to explote.

Traveled to Toronto for weekend Jay's game and visit the Hockey Hall of Fame. The location of the hotel is excellent for these attractions. Very easy to get to - but parking is an issue and the rate of $35.00 / day is very steep. Valets were excellent with our vehicle. The front desk was very curtious and all the staff always said hello. BUT ..... there is a new night club beside the hotel called "Tryst" .... needless to say it is techno music and it is all you can hear until about 3:00 in the morning ... especially in the summer when they have their patio open and are projecting video's on the side of the building. This was a saturday night - I do not know if it is the same any other night of the week, but I would definitely ask to stay on the north side of the hotel and up higher if I ever travelled there again. We complained the next morning and they said we should have complained the night of ... but other people we talked to said that they did complain and nothing happened.

I stayed at the Hilton Garden Inn Downtown for two nights with a group from work. We were actually there on a promotional basis so I personally did not have to pay, so my value rating may not be very refflective of the actual hotel pricing. Anyway, here's the breakdown:

The GOOD : The hotel is new, so everything is in great shape and very clean. From the minute to enter the lobby to the rooms and all facilities (restaurant, pool, fitness centre) are all modern and well kept.

The rooms themselves are great, providing everything you could need for a stay. The first night I was in a standard King room and the second in the Jacuzzi suite. The only difference between the two is the standard king offers a bigger walk in shower, where the jacuzzi suites bathroom shower is slightly smaller but has a tub right next to your bed. All rooms provide 42 inch flat screen tv's, work table with ergonomic chair, mini fridge, microwave, in room safe, and coffee maker. Also the beds in the room are very comfy and provide the ability to change firmness settings for each side of the bed by use of a dial. A very nice touch!

The property itself provides a great Italian restaurant which serves both breakfast and dinner. I had a steak dinner while there and it was amazing. The staff at the restaurant was very good and the bartender was awesome as well, even helping us plan a good evening while in Toronto!
************************************************************************************************************************
The not so good: With all the great features in the room, there were some simple omissions on amenities that could have helped it be great instead of just good. My main confusion was why a hotel that offers mini fridge as a standard in all rooms still only offered coffee whitener instead of simply offering creamers in the fridge. I know that may seem picky, but the whole purpose of whitener is to provide an option when a fridge isn't available, and it still tastes terrible! It's a pretty simple addition to provide creamers, especially at some of the prices advertised by Hilton. Also the inability to provide a late check out on a Sunday seemed a bit odd since turnover on Sundays usually makes for a lot less occupancy from the Sunday to Thursday. These simple things are the difference between Hilton and the previous hotels I have been to in Toronto.
************************************************************************************************************************
The BAD: The front desk service at the hotel was very inconsistent and many times just flat out rude. Upon check in our group was only provided single bed rooms despite all of us being booked in double bed rooms. The situation was rectified however by the manager, but not after some difficult moments with the front desk agents. Also when having a few people in our room for drinks, we were greeted by two front desk agents at our door asking how many people were in the room and to have them "get out in the next minute, we've had complaints". Needless to say a simple call to the room would have been the only thing necessary for us to keep it down, or move out to the bars. The agents even waited outside the door to make sure everyone disbursed from the room immediately, which seemed quite extreme since there were 5 of us total, none of which were either overly loud or drunk...(this is not reflective of all agents, however one of them was also equally rude at check in and other moments during our stay)

Also another downside to the hotel was the lack of elevators. With only 2 elevators operating to service a property that has around 20 floors, many times the wait was anywhere from 3-5 minutes simply to get one (which would then almost always be packed!)
************************************************************************************************************************
Conclusion: Despite my complaints at the end, it's hard to fault this hotel, since it is brand new. A bit of tinkering with the front staff will go a long way as the property itself and it's location are amazing. Hope to return in the future to see it evolve.

We always use Hilton famliy hotels, and Hilton Garden Inn is my favorite. They have great rates, and works good for all purposes. We decided to sleep at the newly opened HGI Toronto Downtown. Good location, walking distance to all major attractions in Toronto. The hotel is brand new, fantastic rooms and public areas. Nice little indoor pool as well. Breakfast was splendid as usual at Hilton Garden Inn. Custom made omelets, with several side dishes and great selection of juice, milk, cereals and fruits. Possible to make your own waffle as well. Only con during the stay was that the hotel didn't provide cellphone chargers, since I had lost my converter and had to buy another one.

Just returned from a 2-night stay at this hotel for a little getaway with the husband and kids. It was so inexpensive for the area and amenities. Service was fast and friendly. Rooms are attractive and well-appointed with super comfortable beds We were traveling light and didn't bring our laptops so the business center with free internet was a definite plus. The lobby has delicious cookies every afternoon. The indoor pool and hot tub are nice and we had the whole area to ourselves when we went. After checkout the hotel kept our baggage for us so we could spend the day in Toronto without having to lug it around. The 15-minute walk to Union Station is very easy and convenient. Would stay here again!
