“Pretty nice, might go again”
Reviewed May 10, 2012

I went with my family for my birthday dinner. We were greeted with a smile and the service was definitely enthusiastic throughout. The place is tiny and it was a tight fit for the larger people in our party (on a good day you'll think "cute" and if you're cranky you think "cramped") the appetizers (cold asparagus soup and duck liver parfait) were tasty but the main courses were just ok; the lamb was tough and a little undercooked but the scallops were done just right. The rabbit and partridge were nice, too. It is a nice little neighbourhood bistro; walking there is best as parking is a little bit of a pain since there is no parking lot.

“Excellent modern bistro food!”
Reviewed February 26, 2012

We ate here this week and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. The service was excellent and the staff were warm and welcoming. We ate upstairs, which is a little quieter. Our party of three had the smoked trout appetizer and the garlic mussels, both simply served and exceptionally tasty. The accompanying bread was warm and fresh. For the main course, two had the steak frites with an outstanding bernaise sauce and frites to die for! The other person in our party had the braised lamb with merguez and al dente vegetables. Both main courses were mouth watering. Only one person ordered desert, pudding chomeur, a very sweet French Canadian desert with sponge toffee - not lacking in calories but exceptional! We will definitely return.

“Delicious food, good service, and warm ambiance.”
Reviewed December 4, 2011

We have eaten many times in this wonderful neighbourhood restaurant, and always enjoy our visits. Graham, the owner, is always welcoming, and takes great care to ensure his clients are carefully attended. When full, it does become noisy, but like many Toronto restaurants, and unlike their European counterparts, patrons compete to be heard over the music!

“Excellent Experience”
Reviewed September 4, 2011

I would have to agree with all the previous reviews. We found it just by walking around the Mount Pleasant neighbourhood. The bistro reminded me of a place we found in the same manner in Greenwich Village the Cafe Cluny.

The lamb and gnocchi were excellent and the lemon tart was perfect. Nice team approach to service.

Only con was coffee could have been hotter, otherwise near perfect experience.

“Excellent food”
Reviewed January 23, 2011

Informal but elegant little restaurant. The place is small, seats about 30 people. Reservations recommended. Only minus was that when the place is full, it gets very noisy and difficult to hold a conversation.

The menu is designed as a fixed-price menu. Select any appetizer, entree, and dessert for $40. All items are available a la carte as well, but if you have all three, they charge the dessert at a discount to arrive at the $40 price. Our server mentioned that if one person wants an appetizer and another wants a dessert, they'd still count it at the discounted price even if split between people. We didn't put this to the test as we all wanted our 3 courses.

Service was great. The staff were all very attentive, friendly and knowledgeable of the food. Coat service was a nice touch.

Lots of parking nearby. Indoor Green P parking across the street and street parking available.

For appetizers, my husband and I had the Hokkaido Scallops and Tiger Shrimp Bonbons respectively. Both tasted great and were presented beautifully. Our only complaint might be that he only got 3 small scallops. You definitely wanted more! Nagano Pork Loin and Magret of Duck to follow. Again, both cooked perfectly. The sauces were so good, I couldn't help mopping up the plate with leftover bread. To finish, Sticky Toffee Pudding and Apple & Calvados Mousse. The Sticky Toffee Pudding was lighter than most that I've had but was a little on the dry side. The mousse tasted fantastic and seemed very light.

In summary, decent portions, excellent dinner, highly recommended.
