Recently had the opportunity to go to spice route for a friend's birthday party. Excellent ambiance, good food and great service, reservation is a recommended. Staff was attentive and willing to suggest drink and food choices. The restaurant specializes in a shared style of eating so I would recommend that you going there with friends willing to experiment and try new things. Definitely will not be disappointed.

The Pad Tai was not that great. The pitcher of zen-gria was enjoyable but nothing special. In my opinion, these were the only negatives of the night. The tempura calamari + rock shrimp, Cantonese chow mien, Singapore rice noodles, Indian spiced roast chicken, kung Pao chicken, chicken & black bean sauce, & spicy Indian curried tiger prawn claypot were all amazing.

Overall a great experience. Good company, Good food. Our server warned us that the food will arrive as its prepared and that the Indian spiced roast chicken would come last. As such, we knew not to wait on all of the dishes before starting to share the meal amongst the group.

I'd go here to catch up with a friend at the bar. Many of the appetizers are tasty, I'm not sold on the whole menu, it can be a bit tiresome as it is kind of Asian fusion which is often too sweet, salty or just weird and a little pricey for what you're getting. Like I said,,, appetizers and cocktails...I recommend the Kobe Beef that you cook on your own hot rock. The bartenders are attractive, talented and fun to deal with, there funky dj music playing in the background and it's a fun scene when its in full swing.

We went to dinner on Saturday, Dec 15th with another couple and had a terrible dinner experience.
It is totally impossible to have a dinner conversation at this restaurant without shouting! One thing is to have an energetic atmosphere, which is one of the reasons I suggested we go to Spice Route in the first place, but another, is where a restaurant so loud that is it not possible to carry on a conversation without shouting.
1) we arrived just before our 7pm reservation and when our guests arrived, they were told we had not arrived. Only when they went to the bar did they see us at the table.
2) a couple of our appetizers were almost cold when they arrived
3) the waiter took about 20 minutes to deliver one of our rounds of drinks
They have a beautiful venue and the bar area is very lively, where shouting is part of the scene, but not for dinner.
There are many similarly priced restaurants in Toronto that will give one a much better and fulfilling dining experience. Forget about Spice Route for dinner.

From what I remember, it was good, but not great - which is why I probably don't remember the food or haven't been back.

This is a very trendy spot, reasonably priced for the amount of food you get, and the food is fresh and fabulous. The only complaint I had, was we felt very rushed. We received our food within five minutes of ordering it and felt like they wanted quick turnovers. It would have been much more enjoyable if it was timed better and we could have had a drink first. I would go back though.
