“"UP IN A SMOKE" IS A FITTING NAME”
Reviewed September 12, 2013

Had the unfortunate experience of "dining" at this "restaurant" this evening and will never EVER be back.

Upon entering the building we were told to "Go and sit in the corner". We all thought that wasn't the most pleasant of greetings but decided that we would seat ourselves and give it a chance regardless. That was a decision we soon very much regretted.

The waitress came to take our drink order. We were told that they MIGHT have what we requested and told that if they were out we would have to get an alternative. It turned out that they did have the coolers that we requested. Unfortunately, they didn't have much of anything else listed on their menu...

After receiving our drinks we tried (and I stress the term tried) to order appetizers. One of us asked what the ingredients were in one if the Cajun soups listed and were told that she didn't know. I asked if it was a cream based soup or if it had a clear base. She replied, "Cream". We ordered it regardless as well a two other appetizers and mozzarella sticks which we were told "They didn't have." No apology or alternative suggestion were offered so we only ordered the three others.

When the appetizers came we naturally looked for cutlery. As our waitress had already left we took some from another table. The cutlery we got ourselves was dirty. We wanted an extra spoon so we went up to request one and were handed a fork and knife. When we asked again for a spoon the man operating the till said "There was one on the plate it came on". We explained that we needed another and he said "Here!" and turned away after handing it over.

After the first bite of this poor excuse for jambalaya we immediately wished we had never asked for the spoons. If we hasn't perhaps we would have been spared from this bowl of burned slop.

We brought the bowl up and informed the man at the till that it taste burned. Obviously irritated he said he would get a new bowl of jambalaya. We said that it was likely the whole pot that tasted that way. One would think someone who works in the restaurant business (or anyone over the age of five) would understand that the soup doesn't burn once it is in the bowl.

We were treated so poorly after a while we just decided to leave (something we have never done before) and at that point our main courses were up and the manager demanded we pay for them. We dug in our heels and then he snapped back and said "ok, hold on" and went storming into the back room and then returned and gave us our money back.

One of the worst restaurant experiences I have ever seen, and we dine out alot both at home and in our extensive travels throughout Canada and the U.S. I am not sure I have ever experienced anything like this. This place failed on EVERY level.

“Fun Place and Good Cajun Food”
Reviewed July 16, 2013

They smoke their own meat and are located on a side street off one of the main throughfares in the City. Ribs are excellent and come with just the right amount of sauce. I like the Jambalaya. Cozy atmosphere
