Description: At Caribou, the surroundings are comfortable and the focus is contemporary cuisine of exceptional quality. We are a North American bistro providing you amazing food and top-notch service. In our restaurant, we do not stick to just one type of cuisine. Our chefs are inspired by foods and dishes from Italy to Korea, and more. Signature dishes created by Chef Craig Vieira include certified Angus tenderloin, cedar plank salmon, black and blue ahi tuna and wood oven pizzas. To complete your meal, try one of our desserts that are prepared in-house by our pastry chef. In addition to providing a variety of cuisines from an array of culinary backgrounds, we present an extensive wine list that was compiled by our wine expert, Jeff Hupka. At caribou, we are pleased to offer you a wine list chosen for quality and value with exceptional selection. Our list includes an excellent vintage selection of rare and world class wines, as well as over 30 wines by the glass. Our wine philosophy is focused to bring you a great dining experience enhanced with carefully selected wines to complement your meal. If you're in the mood for a variety of wines, try one of our wine flights. Caribou has been listed in "Where to Eat in Canada" for several years running and the wine list has earned the "Wine Spectator Award of Excellence" every year since 2002. For an unforgettable experience, come join us at Caribou for a delicious meal and a delectable glass of wine.

“Wonderful Venue”
Reviewed April 30, 2013

My sister and I were in Thunder Bay last weekend for personal reasons. We reserved a table for Saturday evening. We had eaten at the Caribou before and knew it was fabulous. It did not fail us again. I had their local smoked trout paté and it was lovely. The service was excellent as was the menu choice. It was a little noisy, but when you looked around people were having a great time and enjoying their evening. The atmosphere was great. The prices were a little steep but not over the top. Ingredients were local where possible and fresh. Thank you for a great evening.

“Probably the nicest place to eat in Thunder Bay”
Reviewed March 24, 2013

The service was very attentive and friendly. The entrees were a little pricey (but they sounded good) and I would have a hard time justifying an expensive entree as a business expense, so I stuck to the verde pizza ($15). It was delicious, topped with goat cheese, pine nuts, raisins, and vinaigrette greens. I'm weird in that I don't eat commercially produced meats, so it was nice to see some local and wild options. I had a flight of Bordeaux wines ($15 for 3, 2 oz each). They served bread with a nice hummus and olive oil dipping plate beforehand. Wines are always more expensive at these kind of places (same price for a glass as I pay retail for a bottle). I didn't get around Thunder Bay too much, so I don't have a lot to compare to, but I think it's the best bet I've seen here. It would definitely be a good restaurant in any town.

“Great Food, limited choices”
Reviewed March 23, 2013

The Caribou Restaurant, in my opinion, is a wonderful restaurant with delicious food, great service and amazing drinks. My only criticism would be their menu choices are somewhat limited which is understandable considering the type of restaurant it is. Would definitely dine here again. The Cariblue Martinis are to die for. Oh, and you don't leave hungry as was my experience at Lot 66.

“Very good dinner and nice atmosphere”
Reviewed March 14, 2013

We had a delicious and interesting dinner. The menu is ambitious, with some unusual choices and preparations. The service was attentive and we had a very pleasant business meeting over dinner.

“Crowded, overpriced, tastes horrible”
Reviewed February 23, 2013 via mobile

I think my title says it all. Im from toronto. And i dont think any of the reviewers that had anything good to say actually went to a restaurant across the parking lot (the keg). The reason i say Im from Toronto, is because the prices at this horrible place are the same as Toronto nice places. The place looks like a big living room. No bigger than a tim hortons. With a table wherever they can fit. You are paying premium prices for garbage everything. It doesnt even have table cloth. They use paper. At least montanas supplies crayons. The food was terrible. Not filling, and full of fat. 90% of their menu is pork (cheapest meat available). Dont get conned into this place, based on reviews. Anyone that gives it more than 2 stars, havent gone across the parking lot. Peace of advice STAY AWAY. Not to mention again the place is tiny. Every time they open the door a cold draft fills the room. So when u go in and its -10 or lower. Dont use the coat check because u will need it. But hopefully you take this advice and not go in. In all honesty. Its a place where u take ur grandma or aging mom in a hot summer day before u send her to an old age home for good.

Dear Trip Advisor Reviewer

Thank You for taking the time to review our restaurant. At Caribou we take guests feed back both positive and negative very seriously and view it as a learning experience.
No, Caribou restaurant is not a large chain restaurant, but we try to accommodate our guests needs as much as possible, in a contemporary setting. We do accept reservations, but keep a few tables open for walk in parties.
We proudly stand behind every dish that we serve, and offer a wide diverse menu of high quality items. On the particular evening that you were in, we were featuring a pork tenderloin on our special sheet
The most recent Trip Advisor reviews for our restaurant were from people from Toronto and other visitors, as well as locals who thoroughly enjoy our restaurant.
If you come in again please talk to a manager if you feel cold, if the food isn't to your liking,or any other issues that you may have, to allow us the opportunity to correct the situation.
We would like to extend an invitation for your mother and grandmother to join us also, dessert will be on us.

Sincerely,
Tom Pazianos
