Having worked at a National Museum, I was pleased by the quality of the facilities and the details of the storyline as interpreted by the staff. I would recommend this Park to anyone coming to Thunder Bay.

As soon as you enter the Park tour you are immediately surrounded with "actors" who are depicting "in the times" acts and skits throughout the park. Teepees, fires, pelts, skins, they have it all. The area is well maintained and super family friendly.

We even saw a reenactment of a scuffle, complete with a cannon blast. Their 6 storry look out tower is great.

The only reason we can't give this a 5 is that the entire park is a reconstruction, with the original site being up the way a little as per a crew member.

Def worth the entry fee and you can spend as little or as much time as you want there.

We enjoyed the park. The employees being "in Character' was a little weird but you get past it. We especially like the gunsmith and cooper. Very knowledgeable about their craft. Be sure to do the tour (free) because some of the buildings are locked and you won't see them unless in the tour. They have 1 restaurant with a very limited menu so plan accordingly.

A day-long production which portrays a possible scenario from the War of 1812 era was interesting. A sequence of events carried us along from the Indian camp where the Ojibways formed an alliance with the partners ot the NWC to defend the fort agaist American invaders, followed by recruitment of visitors to defend the fort, then a"war council" by the partners in the great hall climaxing with a smoky, noisy battle between the Yankee invaders and Aboriginal-NWC regulars . Lots of drama and colour on a beautiful summer day. The Fort is one of the best historical parks anywhere, and we have been to many. It is a jewell in a gorgeos setting. A place not to be missed! One of the fictional or historic reenactments are icing on the cake!
