This national historical park is well worth the visit if you want to know about the history of Hudson Bay company and Northwest Company. You can take a guided or self guided tour and the young people who act as interpreters obviously love their job. There are also animals to enjoy that are from that historical period. We had a bite of homemade bread and a short bread cookie as well!

This is a great way to get a feel for the way things were done in the days of the Voyageurs. They have an Indian Village set up right outside the fort and everyone is in period costumes and cooking over fires etc. The admission price is quite reasonable. You pretty much have to go with a guide that is assigned to you at the gate and they are acting out their role all the way through the tour. It is a little annoying at times but if you keep an open mind you can learn some history.

When I went there last year it was so much fun. I think it helped that I was a teen girl and the guys were soooo cute! But it was informative and beautiful. The whole old feel of it made me so happy. I love history, especially when it comes to life when it did there.

Fort William Park was part of a conference tour;

As it turns out it was well worth the visit! The actors who portray daily life during the period the Fort was a busy trading area, with the Voyageurs.

They all did an excellent job in their roles, and could answer most of the questions asked them pertaining to that time period.

I had no idea prior to visiting what a busy hub of commerce this Fort was in the 1800's by the Northwest trading Company. (Competitor to Hudson's Bay, before the two merged)

Was also fortunate enough to have been present with the Grand Opening of the New Fort William Astronomical Observatory.

What a gem this place is. An astronomical telescope that will show you the night sky heavens under a dark sky environment.

Also, a great Night Sky intepretation centre, with many historic pieces, including an Astrolabe.

Even some Apollo Lunar Samples on display.

Don't miss your opportunity for great family fun, when in Thunder Bay.
