My new husband and I stayed here in the Manor Room the night of our wedding and were made most comfortable by Dorothy & Tom. They even extended breakfast so we didn't have to be up so early which was greatly appreciated after such a long day.
Delicious breakfast using fresh ingredients from the garden was a special touch and the owners even engaged in a lengthy discussion with my husband on the history of the manor.
We enjoyed a candlelit soak in the jaccuzzi bath (candles, matches, bath salts etc all provided) which is a great size as my husband is over 6 foot and a normal bath does not fit us both comfortably.

Overall a wonderful and memorable experience as a newlywed couple. I am already thinking up an occasion as to why we need to come back!

Very comfortable, fantastic breakfast! A beautiful property, restored with care and attention. The beds were comfortable (good choice of pillows), and the hosts were outstanding. One of the B&bs I've ever stayed at.

My hosts were wonderful in ensuring I was comfortable and relaxed. I have special dietary issues and they took great care to ensure I was happy and very well fed. Beautiful rooms and the garden is a delight. Highly recommend.

As the title of the review says, WOW! This is a great B & B and if we are ever in Thunder Bay again, we will definitely stay here. The hosts treated us with the best hospitality. The breakfast was outstanding. I can't think of anything that was not agreeable to my wife and I during the stay. To Tom and Dorothy (the hosts/owner) Thank you for a wonderful stay!

Room Tip: Eat at Masala Grille, two blocks from the B & B

At the beginning of our driving trip out to western Canada, my husband had promised that we would stay in an up-scale B & B in Thunder Bay. We stayed in the Manor Room for one night in June 2012, and the MCVicar was beyond up-scale. We loved it! The location is close to many restaurants, and the grounds are beautiful. The owners, Dorothy and Tom, could not have given us better service, and we felt completely at home. Our room was huge, spotlessly clean, and beautiful. It had a separate sitting area and a magnificent bathroom with a wonderful jacuzzi, soft and luxurious towels, and expensive toiletries. After offering us a welcoming glass of wine, Dorothy gave us suggestions for dinner, and we ate at an excellent Indian restaurant just a couple of blocks away. The next morning, over an incredible breakfast of Dorothy's home-cooked food, we were very fortunate to have Dorothy and Tom spend extensive time with us, giving us detailed suggestions on the major sights that we should be sure not to miss, and then they wrote down their ideas for us. They have a wealth of information to share about western Canada, since they lived there for many years, and we were extremely grateful for their ideas, which turned out to be fantastic. This B & B is a gem, and the owners are absolutely amazing.

Room Tip: The Manor Room was incredible!

We stayed in Thunder Bay for 2 nights in May 2013 (in the Manor Room). It had a view of the Sleeping Giant and at night you could hear the gentle rumbling of McVicar Creek (the ran along the B&B). Within walking distance to many great restaurants. The hosts (Dorothy & Tom) were very friendly. The best was comfortable and the products from the Body Shop were a nice touch. The food was excellent! Check out our stay in Thunder Bay at http://www.the9to5traveler.blogspot.com/

Room Tip: Would definitely book the Manor Room... it's worth the price.

Only good things to say about McVicar Manor and it's owners. My husband and I stayed three days at this centrally located property while visiting family in Thunder Bay. We had the en suite McVicar Room with it's own balcony. After sleeping in a comfy bed and hot shower (with Body Shop products), Dorothy would present us with a variety of fresh gourmet breakfasts each morning. We would return in the afternoons and relax in the common living room, tv room or sun porch. Coffee, tea or a glass of wine available at any time. Seems there are several nice restaurants within walking distance but our relatives had us elsewhere. Don't give up if you find the web-site lacking. Just read the reviews on Tripadvisor and give them a call.

Room Tip: The McVicar room has a large soaking tub with shower head in back. You should be limber or have lon...
