“Very abusive owner”

Food and atmosphere is fine but i despise the way the own treats his staff. It must be humiliating. Ive been there a number of times and now refuse to go back because of the poor behavior

“Didn't meet the hype!”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 21, 2012

My wife and I went to Rooster's Bistro on Monday Feb 20/12 (family day) with friends after hearing about it on the radio a lot of times. All the things I heard were positive so why not?

Rooster's Bistro is located in downtown Thunder Bay in a good location with good parking and is clean and well kept inside with good lighting and decor.
The service on the other hand, left much to be desired. There was a definite shortage of wait staff and consequently the service was very slow. Three of us asked for juice and each received a can or bottle of juice which the waitress produced from her pockets. Instead of walking around the table and placing our orders she had no trouble reaching across in front of everyone. The food was marginal at best with the omelette being small, the potatoes not being cooked enough and the bacon leatherized (I asked for crispy). Getting another coffee proved to be interesting as well. It seemed like we were being ignored when we tried getting their attention and when we finally did get the attention of a waiter, he came and tossed a hand full of creamers on the table and poured our coffee. Kinda like "here's you damn coffee".

Any how, not a great experience at all and probably won't go back.

“Pick Another place”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 2, 2012

The owner is rude to his employees and is not overly friendly to the customers. The food is nothing to ride home about - just your average soup, sandwich joint

Fast, clean and friendly, the food is fun and good and at the corner table you can see the lake.

“Jimmy - Take it down a notch!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 26, 2011

Three of us visited Roosters on a Sunday morning, weekends are busy, so be prepared for a bit of a wait. We were seated fairly quickly, given water and menus by a harried but friendly server. The food is good basic bistro or diner fare. My friend had the Mexican scramble, which looked geat, smelled heavenly and she says was the best ever. My husband had Rooster's twist on eggs benedict, and he really enjoyed it. I had the pancakes and bacon, nicely presented and well done. The bill was reasonable for what we had, I noticed most of the items on the menu are less than $10. Bistro's is a nice, clean little restaurant with good well prepared food and reasonable prices. The only drawback to the place is the owner, who loudly berates the staff as they hustle about. It takes away from the otherwise cozy atmosphere. The servers are fast and friendly - George is kind and a hard worker, but seems to be the target for the boss at times. I'd like to go there sometime when the owner is not there, I hope the aviance will be a lot better.
