Did the drive up Mount McKay to see the great views of the city from the viewpoints. We enjoyed wandering around looking at the memorial, the board walk and the sun setting over Thunder Bay. This has to be one of the best places to see the Sleeping Giant.

From here we did the hike up to the summit of Mount McKay. The lady at the front gate was incredible helpful in explaining where the hike started as a lot of people have problems finding the starting spot. It is in the first gravel parking lot as you come up to the viewing grounds. Park here and there is a garbage bin in the back left corner where you will see a gravel path. Follow that all the way to the top! The hike is tough and a consistent incline. Make sure to wear proper footwear and bring bug spray!!!
The hike only took us 20 minutes. Tough but well worth it.

We went there to hike to the top. After paying $5 to park and view the PowWow grounds which is mid-way up the mountain and also observe Thunder Bay from a lookout point, we could not find the path to the hike. We wondered around looking for the start of the trail/hike with a few others and simply gave up. Of course this might have been good for us as the hike is supposedly difficult. But still.

Great overlook of Thunderbay and Native Council gathering. Pictoral understanding of Ashinabe beliefs.

Climbed up as a university student, many years ago. Enjoyed th3 drive up and the amazing view on a warm, sunny day. Not to be missed. It has so much more potential, but offers an a azing vista.

I love to take guests to this gorgeous lookout. The drive in itself is lots of fun and not far from the city. Just watch the weather. In rainy conditions you may not see much!
