We had a brief layover here in Thunder Bay after a flight from Cuba. The Valhalla is consistently a decent place to stay but unfortunately much of the hotel is still rather dated and old. I know they are renovating and I will be happy once that is complete.

The staff, and shuttle service were very polite. Dinner @ timbers was also very good and I was happy that they were able to look after us even though we arrived right at closing. It was well appreciated.

Thank you for your kind words about our hotel and staff. We take great pride in ensuring a pleasant stay for all our guests whether a quick layover or extended stay. I am pleased to hear you were accommodated in Timbers even with a late arrival. Renovations are taking place this week in Timbers and we look forward to hearing your thoughts during your next visit.

While staying at the Valhalla Inn on an extended family vacation my family and I had multiple flight and travel issues. The customer service and management staff went above and beyond the call of duty. Each staff member clearly displayed sincere and genuine customer service. One waitress who worked at the Runway stated she had worked at the restaurant for over thirty years. She made my family and I feel like family and made our dining experience both enjoyable and fun. The waitress wore several stars on her tie for being chosen for employee of the month. She was excellent, sweet, and caring. Giuseppe was instrumental in making our vacation both worry free, and enjoyable during flight cancellations and weather issues. I cannot recommend this hotel enough. I will only stay at the Valhalla Inn when visiting relatives in Thunder-Bay. Thank-you again to the entire Valhalla staff. If you have an opportunity to stay in the jacuzzi room you will not be dissatisfied. The room was clearly the most beautiful room in Thunder-Bay.

We had to travel unexpectedly for a medical appointment and choose the Valhalla as we have stayed there before... the staff was extremely accommodating with our very early check in time. We also had to bring our large black lab and although we had to pay for him also, many of the staff showed genuine affection towards him , one staff member gave him dog biscuits, she had brought a box to share with all the dogs staying at the hotel... the room was nice, clean and situated well for us. We would recommend this hotel!

Room Tip: first floor rooms have sliding glass patio doors, so if you have a dog, these are the rooms to book.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience at our hotel. We want to ensure we make your travelling experience when you have a pet, especially a large dog, as comfortable and welcoming as possible. Having ground floor outside access rooms makes it very convenient for you and your pet. We want all of our four-legged guests feel just as welcome as the rest of our guests staying with us. We look forward to having you stay with us again.

Was not expecting much, but upon arrival and check in, was pleasantly surprised. The Inn was clean, comfortable, and the rooms have been renovated recently. Everything was very nice, however the lobby area could use some updating, seemed very dark.

Only complaint I have, is the elevators are a long ways away from the check in area, and the rooms elevators were at the ends of the hallways, not central like most hotels.

Restaurant food was very above average, and the selections were great.

Thank you for your review of our hotel. I am pleased to hear you enjoyed your stay in one of our renovated guestrooms and your dining experience in our restaurant. We have recently launched a new menu and am glad to hear you enjoyed it. Additional hotel renovations are taking place this year in the lobby, guestrooms and our restaurant. I hope you plan to stay with us again so we can continue to showcase our Northern Hospitality.

The Valhalla Inn is a nice hotel but has the feel of a hotel past its prime. My room was on the main level and when I opened the door I was greeted by an overwhelming musty smell. There didn't appear to be a central air exchange system in the room, heating and cooling were provided by a wall mounted unit. The rest of the hotel looked nice and the food was very good. For a northern hotel it is pretty nice. It is far from downtown Thunder Bay ($40 cab fare) but close to the airport and there is a convenient hotel shuttle.

The location has it's limitations - yes, you can hear some sounds from the airport, but that's to be expected for a location that's so close. If you chose this for the location to be near the airport, you've got to expect some sounds. They weren't constant and I had no trouble sleeping, but they were occasionally noticeable. It is an airport hotel, after all.

My room was excellent for this class of hotel.......It was clean and spacious, and although the furnishings and appointments themselves are 3 star (plastic counter top in the bathroom, etc), the space and comfort of the furniture made for a pleasant stay. The pool area (with a hot tub - the jets didn't work well, but the hot water was lovely) was an added bonus.

One tip - if your room has a high number, it will be far from the lobby and have questionable, if any, WiFi service. Pick up an ethernet cable from reception and used wired internet instead.

Room Tip: Higher numbered rooms have poor to no WiFi, so get a cable from the reception desk for internet serv...

The room was dirty looking. Sink tap sprayed out the front so u brush ur teeth and ur crotch gets wet. One chair in room to eat at table. Overall not inpressed at all. I heard this hotel was the top of the line and its not bobs motel is way better by 100% and is only 72.00 instead of over 100.00. All i have to say is crap. And the food was gross and u get like no food for the price u pay. Gravy tasted funny. And we had fruit flyes in our vineger bottle and when wr complained they only gave use new fries not new everything how gross.

I apologize that our hotel was unable to meet your expectations. Exciting changes are happening in our Hotel. A Starbucks will be featured in our lobby this month and plans are moving forward with our restaurants. Timbers will remain in its central location alongside the Lounge with updates to the décor and Runway 25 will be re-located into the former Timbers space and re-designed with a brand new look. Early spring will feature additional guestroom renovations to give you additional choices during your stay.
We look forward to showing you our improvements during your next visit to the city.
Sincerely,
Lisa Mendyk
