“Good not Great”
3 of 5 stars Reviewed October 27, 2012

This is a good place to stay. Not great.
Looks like new carpet and new tile on the bathroom floor. But the tile on the shower walls is old...kinda retro and I like it. But it needs some re-grouting.
The bed was good but I know that it is old. Working in the Hotel industry I know what 15 year old mattresses look like, but it is still in good shape.
Looks like they are doing some work to the place and that is always good to see.
I would stay here again.
Pros: High ceilings, quiet, free parking and wifi.
Cons: attention to detail, needs a little more bathroom work.

Room Tip: Room 304 was a "city" side room and good for the stay.

My husband and I just spent three at the Prince Arthur Waterfront Hotel and Suites. We came with the Happy Trails Tours. We were very pleased with the accommodations. The services and food were excellent. The staff was most courteous, always pleasant and willing to assist. We have never had a better night sleep. The beds were the most comfortable that we had ever slept on.

Everyone at Prince Arthur made this trip a wonderful experience. We look forward to staying at Prince Arthur Waterfront Hotel and Suites again and we will definitely recommend it to all our friends and family.

Room Tip: Rooms overlooking the lake gives you a beautiful view of the sun rise.

For over $120 a night??? Never again!!!

Pros: free WiFi, free parking, good location, clean
Cons: squeeky floors, horrible matress, no day cover or sheets over blanket, condition of bath room

This is an old hotel! Granted I expected squeeking floors but had wished for a bit more old time charm. This place must have last been updated in the 80s and had seen not much care (at least not in room 303) ever since. The mattress can only be explained as HORRIBLE! Never slept on anything like it. Won't return here!

Very easy to find, easy to find parking, close to lots of amenities. We arrived late at night, tired from driving.. the front desk guy was very nice and helpful. Our room was very easy to find. A lot of things in there were very outdated.. and I cut my ankle on a big metal part that was coming out of the bed. Also, don't get me started on the shower... there wasn't the usual hot and cold things, there were 3. Each one would change the temperatures in very weird, nonconsistant ways.. it took us about 20 minutes to get the shower to a normal temperature.

My daughter, her children and I stayed at the Prince Arthur Hotel in Thunder Bay. We were pleased to see that the room had a hide-a-bed in it. We decided to make up the hide-a-bed for one of the children to sleep on, but when we pulled it out, it was clearly broken. When we phoned the front desk, we were informed that the hide-a-beds were not to be used and then they accused us of breaking it and said there would be a charge. I explained that it was a natural assumption that the bed could be used and that we hadn't broken it and asked that someone come up to see the bed. Two people from housekeeping arrived and confirmed that the bed was ancient and we hadn't broken it. However, none of us were able to put the broken bed back inside the sofa, so we couldn't even use it as a sofa for one of the children to sleep on. The front desk said we could have a cot, but we'd have to pay an extra $15, which we were not prepared to do. Also, the lock on the bathroom door didn't work and the bathroom wasn't particularly clean,

Nice hotel in centre of town. We wanted a place to sleep on route to winnipeg and the hotel was perfect. The Staff were friendly and room clean, spacious and comfortable. Even came with microwave and fridge which was a nice surprise. Decided to have extra rest and stay two nights which was easily accomodated. Would stay again and recommend to those wanting hotel pretty central in town.

Dear Guest

Thank you for your comments and thank you for staying with us on your way to Winnipeg.
The Waterfront District is the place to be when visiting Thunder Bay. With the new maria steps away and with a number of great restaurants and night clubs within a short walk, why would you want to be anywhere else.

Thank you again,

Nice older remodelled hotel, first night had smaller room, bathroom stank a bit like urine. Second night had suite - excellent! Plenty of room for a large group of people, beds comfortable, showers could have had a bit more pressure, staff friendly. Is an older hotel but the view is great and it was fairly close to all the places we needed to visit.

Room Tip: Just be sure to ask for an upgraded room, harbour view if possible.

Dear Guest

Thank you for staying with us during your visit to Thunder Bay. I am glad to read that the suite was comfortable with lots of room.
The lack of water pressure could be the result of the low flow shower heads.
Once again thank you for your comments and we hope to see you again.

Yours truly
