I had to stay at this hotel because the Days Inn's were booked solid. I had to be in TBay 2 1/2 weeks with weekends back home. The first weeks stay at this hotel was as follows: the bathroom curtain smelled like body order, the TV was so small you needed binoculars to watch it, air conditioner not big enough to keep the room cool (it had to be on all night and still not enough)and when taking a shower the water temperature would change dramatically. The second weeks stay at this hotel (again because the others were booked solid) the room was better, TV was bigger, bathroom didn't smell BUT there's cob webs in the corner, hair found on the pillows and whiskers in the bathroom sink. When I went down to the pool area one night the sauna didn't work and the hot tub was closed. When I asked the front desk people why that was, their comment was "it should be working". I stayed for 5 nights and they didn't bother changing the sheets on the bed. When I called down to the front desk on the third day to ask why the sheets weren't changed the girl argued with me. Just change the sheets!!! The third week I had to stay at this hotel for another 4 nights (again because the others were still booked solid), they gave me the same room as the previous week but again, by the forth night the sheets were not changed. When I went down to the front desk to ask why that was, the same girl began to argue with me, saying I had to let her know I wanted it done. HELLO! I'm in a hotel! That's your job to a least have them changed once!!! The general manager came over to talk with me and said the sheets should have been changed every 2 days and only apologized. Didn't offer any compensation for my grief. Highly recommend not staying at this hotel.

Room Tip: Go to Days Inn you'd be better off. The Days Inn are the better hotels in the city. Book early t...

We made an unplanned trip to Thunder Bay, and decided to check out the hotel after seeing billboards for it. The location was great-on the Lake Superior waterfront, overlooking the marina and a nice park. We were able to get a room without a reservation. Lake view rooms were a little bit more, but the view was worth it. The hotel is a little outdated, but it has some old fashioned charm. The pool area was nice. There are bars and restaurants within walking distance, and the park and marina were nice to walk through. We would stay here again!

On July 29 while en route to Sudbury, we decided to stay the night in Thunder Bay. The hotels
on the highway were all full so we took a drive down to the waterfront and discovered an old
beauty which happened to have a vacancy. The place was very clean, and quiet, got a great nights sleep and great breakfast in the morning. The price of the room and meal was very reasonable. We would stay there again and recommend the 101 year old hotel to anyone, especially looking for walking distance to tour the waterfront. Beautiful.
Bonus- parking lot security walking around so we did not have to empty the car.

Room Tip: We had a corner room overlooking the harbour.

Over Easter weekend 2012, my wife and I enjoyed a lovely stay in one of the Jacuzzi Suites at the Prince Arthur Waterfront Hotel. The room was simple but elegant, staying true to the old character charm of the hotel and offered a great view of the Thunder Bay waterfront with the Sleeping Giant off in the distance. The French doors off the bedroom opened up to our own private escape with a Jacuzzi tub deep and spacious enough for two with enough hot water and jets to help even the most stressed quickly relax in a short period of time.
Thanks to great customer service, room service or great food in the Portside Restaurant, cable TV, a cozy sitting area, and a pool in the basement -one could be happy just staying in and lounging in comfortable complimentary bathrobes.
For those looking to spend a romantic weekend, or couples looking to reconnect away from the kids, contact the Prince Arthur Hotel and Suites to plan your perfect get-a-way or stay-cation.

The rooms are still very old even with the renovations. Hard to hide its age. Main elevator is at best working 50% of the time. Food left outside the rooms from room service stayed in the hall for more than a day. Parking is hit and miss near the building. Rooms are large and the bathrooms are clean but it takes a long time to get hot water. Bed is comfortable and the view is really great.

Room Tip: Try and get a room on a lower floor as you may need to use the stairs.Stay away from rooms near the...

Dear Guest

Thank you for staying with us and for taking time to send us your comments. The Prince Arthur celebrated it's 101st anniversary this past March. The updates that have been done are not meant to cover up the age or the history of this building. The Prince Arthur is unique and that makes it special. The elevator may have been slower then normal due to the increase in traffic during your stay. Your comments will be shared with the restaurant and housekeeping managers to ensure that room service trays are collected on a more timely basis.
I am happy to read that you found your room spacious, clean and comfortable, and that you enjoyed the great view.

Thank you

Our room was spacious, clean, comfortable beds, Gorgeous view of the harbour. Air conditioning was good and quiet, too! The bathroom was just adequate, sink didn't drain well.
The staff(every area) were courteous, friendly and helpful. Free and good parking area.
Slept well, enjoyed nice food.
The tub area should have a hand hold of someone sort for entering the tub.

Room Tip: Ask for the lake side--that view will make up for any small flaws!!!
