“Great park”

Very worthwhile visit though far more trails to hike than we could do in our short visit. The trails can be challenging, so watch the descriptions, but the views are great (even when it is fairly foggy/hazy).

“Okay park”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 15, 2013

We enjoyed seeing this park from a distance to see the "sleeping giant figure". When you are in the park there is a nice campground but not much else to do. Saw a few deer crossing the road. Beautiful park - but would not drive through again.

“As Wild as it Gets”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 6, 2013

My mom and I went here for a full day of hiking. We had met families that had seen a Moose with her baby and a bear in the campgrounds! Although we didn't see those animals ourselves, we did see lots of wildlife. Porcupines, Deer, Loons, Prairie Chicken, Rabbits, etc. The only downside was we went during Fly Season.....YIKES!!! Please, please, PLEASE purchase Cutters Bug Spray if you go here. We were swarmed by flies and mosquitos the entire time we were there and only got bit once or twice. It was really annoying, but at least we weren't eaten alive out there.

Do NOT go on the Wildlife Trail. Even the ranger said it's a pretty lame path. Nothing but bugs and mud. The Sea Lion is a MUST. Loved that hike along Lake Superior. The Thunder Bay overlook is quite a drive, but totally worth it. You stand 100 meters above Lake Superior! (Amazing experience, but not recommended for those afraid of heights.)
