“Desert after the Show”
Reviewed October 25, 2012

This is the place where the Stratford Festival Crowd goes after the show for their coffee and desert. I fired up my coffee with some Bailey's and had the cinnamon bun with a rich sauce. The others had a light desert served with strawberries. The crowd was friendly and definately in the Zoomer Category.

“Used to be much much better”
Reviewed October 19, 2012

It's been taken over by a hotel chain and the menu has suffered greatly. They depend on the tourists who visit the town by the busload and therefore their menu is very, very ordinary now. Nice patio though.

Thanks for posting your review, we are sorry that you found our menu ordinary. Our menu concentrates on simple sophisticated food with innovative twists and we closely partner with our local farmers and suppliers.

The Parlour has remained locally owned and operated since 2003 and is not a chain. Our award winning guest rooms are branded with Best Western, but still remain locally owned and operated as Best Western is not a franchise.

We are known in the city for a place that locals and visitors alike can come year round and find a comfortable yet upscale place to dine. Casual fine dining best describes us.

If there was something specific that you did not enjoy please contact us and let us know, feedback is very important to us.

“Our One Night Out Restaurant”
Reviewed September 24, 2012

Since we rarely have time for a leisurly dinner we pick the place to go when we do. This year we went to The Parlour. SUch a pleasant experience, competent and yet quiet service, excellent food and the room was a treat in which to dine!

“Good but not great”
Reviewed September 17, 2012

My partner and I recently dined at The Parlour on a Sunday night before a show. We found the atmosphere a little pretentious, but our server was really nice and very attentive. The beer selection is bad for a place that bills itself as a gastropub. The food was good: my partner had the burger, which was tasty, but not particularly remarkable. I had the duck breast with foie gras fried rice in a maple glaze. The duck was excellent; prepared rare, it was very tender, and the maple glaze wasn't too overwhelming. The rice was also good, although there wasn't much evidence of foie gras, and I'm fairly sure the peas were frozen. The pavlova dessert was excellent; the lemon and raspberry sauces were a great accompaniment to this light and fluffy meringue dessert. Definitely a portion for two, though. Cappuccino was also good.

“Good food, good service”
Reviewed September 14, 2012

Service was good and friendly, food was good but standard fair. Beer selection is poor. Parking was a bit of a chore.

Hello, thank you for your review. With no prejudice and only to be clear, we are a little confused about why we would be so poorly rated mainly based on the beer selection.
We do offer 12 draught beers from around the world, including our favourite local beers from SW Ontario. This list includes Guinness Stout, Kilkenny Irish Cream Ale, Harp Lager, Smithwicks Irish bitter, Newcastle Brown Ale, Stella Lager, Strongbow cider, Moosehead, Coors Light, Stratford Pilsner, Buzz Red Hemp Lager (an amazing hemp beer from Toronto), and my personal favourite Waterloo Dark, We also offer an additional 13 different beers in the bottles.
Maybe not a lot of "trendy" microbrews but a solid list of great beers.
