This is the B&B to stay at in Stratford. My friend and I have stayed here many times and when we pull into the driveway it's like coming home. Even if we've skipped a year, when Judy and Sue greet you, it's like you just saw them last week. We've stayed in three of the rooms and enjoyed all of them -- the Bali Room is a favorite with a deck facing Ontario Street (and Judy shared with us that the actor Jamey Sheridan, of Law & Order, stayed in the Bali Room a few years back). If you like a little more privacy and the use of a sink and fridge, The Loft at the back of the house is spacious and has a private deck. Judy has decorated with gems from her travels around the world -- and her stories about carting them home will make you laugh. Our most recent trip was just last week, and we came away not only with fond memories of the plays we saw at Stratford, but also Sue's recipe for Banana Flax Loaf! I encourage you all to try this lovely boutique B&B on your next trip to Stratford.

We have finally found the perfect B&B in Stratford and have been staying here for the last four years when attending the Stratford Festival. Sue and Judy are such fun and manage a beautiful, clean place to stay. Breakfast by Sue is always amazing. The best part of staying here is that it is relaxed and easy. We spent a few years trying different places to stay and have finally found the perfect place and we wouldn't think of going any place else .

Room Tip: All the rooms are great.

We hit the jackpot on our first trip to Stratford. Avery House is a lovely place to stay and within walking distance to the village shops, Festival theatres, Avon River bank, and restaurants. You can park your car in the driveway and walk everywhere during your entire stay.

The rooms are tastefully decorated with furniture and accessories from around the world. And the bed linens are the softest you'll ever sleep on!

Judy and Sue are gracious and fun hosts. They recommended great restaurants and even made reservations for us. Every one was a winner.

And Sue's breakfasts....WOW! She loves to cook and cooks with love. Her breakfasts are imaginative, delicious, and beautifully garnished with flowers from the garden.

Can't wait to go back next year.

Room Tip: The Key West Suite is fabulous!

Our stay was one of the most pleasurable stay's that we've had in Stratford. The decor of the house is unique like it's owner and hostess Judy Spence, each room has it's own feeling with very comfortable clean white bedding ,you can walk to the theatre which is a big bonus. The breakfast is very satisfying everything being fresh and delicious . Judy and Sue are accommodating and friendly and very knowledgeable about the Theatre, the city and it's surrounding areas. If your looking for a B&B to stay in Stratford, this one is Absolutely Fab.

Room Tip: All the rooms are beautiful with king or twin bed.

This is a really nice B&B--a cut above the basic B&B that feels like Aunt Millie's home. It's tastefully decorated and well-run. We looked for accommodations at the last minute and were glad to find this. So many other B&Bs had rooms listed in the $250-$275 range that I was glad to find something clean and nice without having to break the bank totally. Nothing in Stratford is inexpensive, so this was a reasonably priced find.

We stayed in the Cocoa Beach Suite for $169/night. Our friends had the Autumn room for $139 night. The suite was fairly large, with two sitting chairs, an ensuite bathroom, and a little connecting room between the bedroom and the bathroom. There is also a very large, nice deck off this room. The furnishings are quite nice-- top quality comfortable bed, with plush linens, and extra towels. All very nice.

Guests are allowed to use the living room (and many do) to congregate before breakfast at 9am. Other guests were very social while we were there...a very friendly bunch. Breakfast is a very beautiful affair, with a long formal dining table set. A hot breakfast, including a fruit dish, is served, plus juice coffee and tea.

Judy and Sue are very friendly accommodating hosts. They are super clear in their communications and work hard to accommodate the needs of their guests, without being overbearing or intrusive. They were very flexible about arrival times (we tried to arrive at the time stated, but were wrong on that count--and they were easy and gracious about that). They also prepared breakfast early for us as our friends had to return a rental car to Toronto by a specific time, again, without making it seem as if it were a big problem.

The only "downside" that I can see to this hotel is that it is on a very busy street. So, it's not the most pleasant walk to downtown (although this is hardly a big deal). There's a lot of traffic noise from the sidewalk, but the house is completely quiet on the inside.

We just returned home from a wonderful two day trip to Stratford with another couple. We have been to the Festival many times and have stayed at many Hotels, Inns and B&Bs so we know whereof we speak. All of us agreed that Avery House cannot be faulted in any way. The beds, pillows and linens are the most comfortable we have ever experienced ; the breakfasts and coffee are divine ; the decor and furnishings are wonderful; the location is ideal; and last but maybe most important, Judy and Sue are warm and kind and do everything they possibly can to make the Stratford/Avery House experience perfect . We will be back next year.
