Went to Mercer Hall a couple times during my recent visit to Stratford. I must say that the food, vibe and value is outstanding. Had one of the best burgers I've had in a while during my first visit. Reading about their sous-vide technique highlights their efforts to make it a great piece of meat. The beer selection is great. The mussels I had during my second visit were also fantastic. The vibe of the place is trendy and slightly upscale but the prices are not too bad (especially for Stratford).

Note: Their ketchup that they make in house just might be the best I've ever tasted.

We had lunch at Mercer Hall, it was okay, but not great. We would not go back. Our server was very good, but the food was just average and the menu was very small.

Our second time there and we opted to sit at the bar as we wanted a more informal athmosphere. We were treated with first class attention, our drinks were mixed near to perfection and the food was as great this time as last. Try the scallops as they know exactly how to cook them. Experiment with the beverage list and discuss the menu before you order, as not everything is for everyone. No reflection on the quality, just the tastes. We were also noticing the attention to detail as we were able to see the staff preparing to serve in the other parts of the restaurant. They indivudally shine the glasses when removed from the dish washer to ensure no spots are on them when used. As for the menu, again, lots of high quality offerings. However, not all is perfect (as it seldom is). For example, the fries were just OK and about the only nit-picking I could find in an otherwise excellent dining experience. This is our fav restaurant in Stratford and we actually planned our trip to ensure we had enough time to enjoy the meal here. Congrats to the owners, the managers and of course the staff for a job well done.

We dropped in without a reservation prior to the theatre and were seated right away. Our server was friendly and efficient. We ordered the 1/2 litre of wine, fried risotto, scallops, braised beef cheeks and caesar salad. The salad was nothing spectacular with overly hard croutons. We found the food lukewarm, definitely not hot, (except the risotto)which was quite disappointing. Probably should have sent it back as an after thought. Did not order from the dessert menu as nothing really stood out as appealing. 92 dollars plus tip.

Four of us walked in and were lucky enough not to need reservations on a Saturday before a performance at the Stratford Festival. We ordered Duck, Whitefish and Chips and Beef Cheeks. We tried the Pumpkin and Bacon Shop and Ceasar Salad. Not one complaint from our table. For the four of us with a .5 litre of red wine and 2 beers with tip, approx. $230.00
