My trip was very last minute and because I wanted to do some shopping, the location was perfect (it's right downtown). I stayed on the 200 floor and it looked like it was in rough shape - lightbulbs out, old carpet, paint, etc. The room was kind of dirty with chips on the floor, dust and some dirt on the nightstand/desk, marks of stuff on the walls, and the bathroom was pretty gross (black mold on the taps and other parts of the tub, the tub had not been cleaned, hair on the walls, etc.). There is no elevator or luggage person to take your bags, so you do have to carry your stuff upstairs as there are no first floor rooms. The front desk staffed seemed pretty nice, but it's odd (for me anyway) to not have any staff available during the evening/night.
Oh and the biggest thing I had a problem with was the noise! You can hear everything that's going on in the rooms next to and on top of yours...ya. So ultimately I paid about 100.00 (plus 9 for parking for the night, make sure you do this when you book). I would not stay here again. Good luck :)

The room was clean, beds were comfortable, furnished with a cotton featherbed. Bathroom was tiny, barely room enough for one person. The hotel is not accessible to the handicapped. It has no elevator. Even rooms numbered in the 100s are up two flights of stairs. Those in the 400s are up four flights. Maintenance is poor. The lock on the room door barely functioned, and management was not friendly and apologetic about it when I asked for assistance.

In this hotel painting the walls and putting in new carpeting some time ago, counts as a renovation. Parking requires coins in the meter, the hotel closes at 9.00pm so you have to use a key, the bathroom was tiny and not very clean, but the beds were comfortable. The air conditioning unit was very old and I suspect the filters needed changed. No staff are available in the evening and there is no elevator
So take some quarters and be up early in the morning to feed the meters! Is there any such thing as a one star hotel? This strives for that great distinction. The photos on this site are accurate.

We were going to settle for this place because we were tired of looking, and the pictures on the hotel's website were nice. But the room we saw was nothing special and didn't look particularly comfortable or well-maintained. The main floor looked more dingy than in the pictures as well. Locals we spoke to referred to this place as "a dive".

Decent, clean hotel. Great location, close to the Avon Theatre. No bed sheets provided for the pull-out and no overnight front desk staff to provide assistance. Nothing special in regards to customer service or accomodation, but is worth a look if you're looking for something average in a good location.
