My boyfriend and I went to see Evita and stayed at the Stone Maiden Inn for 1 night. We arrived at the Inn at 1pm. The Victorian property was beautiful, and even had a patio area. When we went in, Pat promptly greeted us and gave us a quick tour of the beautiful Parlour Room and Dining Room, then showed us our room (room #2) which was very clean and tidy. The linens were fresh and our bed/pillows were comfortable. To my surprise, our private bathroom had towels and toiletries (shampoo/conditioner/lotion/shower cap/shoe shine) and even cotton swabs/pads. The Inn was only a 5 minute walk to the downtown area, including the Avon Theatres where we were heading out at night to see Evita. When we got back after the theatre I felt a bit hungry so we stopped by the Parlour room. We had a piece of the banana bread and a tea using their hot beverage system (a wide range of coffee/tea was available).

The next morning I was very much looking forward to Eggs Benedict breakfast. It was served with fruits on the side and it was delicious! Aside from the featured breakfast, there was also a wide variety of choices. The apple cinnamon cake was also very yummy - moist in the inside, with a crispy top. There was also milk, juice, coffee/tea, yogurt, croissant, cereals, raisin bread, and an assortment of jams. A very pleasant stay overall!

PS. There is a mac in the Parlour room for common use. There is also free wifi and a TV in our room.

Kim and her husband Pat became owners in the spring of 2010, and not many months later they show the knack for taking care of guests, not only with good advice, but with their superb breakfast dishes, pastries, home made preserves, 24-7 coffee/tea/cocoa, wireless service, great parking, firm beds, and friendship. Unexpected knee surgery led us to ask for a change of room from the third floor to the first, and Kim worked it out with another couple, giving them a break in fee in order to accommodate us. Similarly, she was ready every morning with a delicious, special gluten-free breakfast we needed. Because we were coming during a busy week (Labor Day weekend), Kim took the initiative to send us Stratford's restaurant guide and encouraged us to let her make reservations for us for every night. That was good advice, indeed. We will return to watch this wonderful couple add luster to this most interesting and comfortable bed and breakfast in one of the great theatre and restaurant towns in North America.

I have been visiting Stratford for many years and have almost always been very pleased with the B & B's we have stayed in - until now. We had very little to choose from and so spent more than we usually do - and expected luxury. The house was charming, and the owner was very nice and accommodating - even allowed us to check in early. However, the room was small and cramped as was the bathroom. There was also an odour of rotting wood in the room. The house is literally next to the railway track and we did hear the train at night. Breakfast was pleasant and adequate, but by no means generous.
I would definitely NOT say it was good value for the money

The Stone Maiden Inn is under new management; I didn't know the previous innkeepers, but Kim & Pat are great. We stayed in Room E--the only one that was available all three nights we stayed--and it was great. It has an antique (Kim said 400 years) four-poster bed, private bathroom (toilet, sink, and small shower), a 1-person whirlpool tub, and comfortable furnishings including a TV, phone, and small refrigerator. I tend not to sleep well in anything but my own bed, but was well rested each morning after an undisturbed night's sleep.

The Inn is clean, neat, and very well furnished with both modern furniture and nice antiques to complement the old home. Everything about the Inn was comfortable and rates equal to or better than the many other bed & breakfast inns we have stayed in throughout the USA. (This was our first B&B in Canada.)

The food was great; breakfast was hearty and tasty with a good selection of cold choices (fruit, bread, cereal) to go with the morning hot selection. When my wife mentioned on the first day that she didn't care for eggs except for French Toast, the cook rearranged the menu for the rest of our stay to have blueberry pancakes and...French Toast! We felt like we were the only guests at the Inn.

Kim helped us make plans and arrangements for our first trip to the Stratford Shakespeare Festival so that we could get the most out of the three days we had there. The location was excellent. Though the Stone Maiden looks to be off the beaten path, it is actaully well-situated. It took only 10 minutes to walk to the Avon & Studio Theaters, and a leisurely 30 minute stroll along the river got us to the Festival Theater. Many of the small shops in the downtown area lie between the Stone Maiden and the Festival Theater--a highly convenient arrangement as we could shop either on our way to the theater or upon returning to the Inn. And since the Inn was at least a block off the major roads (like Ontario or Erie Streets), there was no traffic to keep us up at night or wake us early in the morning.

We will be staying at the Stone Maiden Inn again without a doubt.

Price is great, excellent value. Old Victorian charm with modern touch. Food was awesome. Location is great. New owners Kim and Pat are the best.

We enjoyed our time at the Stone Maiden Inn. The Inn is under new owners who are putting their heart and souls into re creating the inn to its rightful charm. The owners went out of their way to make us feel at home and accomodated our schedule. The walk to the downtown and Avon was great. We would stay again and can't wait to see the many upgrades that are being planned.

The new owners (the Walsh's) seem to have a singular purpose to provide charming and attentive service at The Stone Maiden, which is within walking distance of the Avon Theatre.
The room was clean and nicely appointed (the bed in room A is on par with Sheratons' "Heavenly Beds") and Kim's breakfast is truly lovely, tasty, and well thought out!
Thank you, Stone Maiden, for a lovely stay! Kevin and Lorna Johns
