“Our Home-Away-from-Home in Stratford!”
Reviewed August 8, 2013

I almost hesitate to write a review on the Stewart House Inn - because then everyone will book it, and it will fill up with no more room for us!! Seriously, this is the most wonderful place. We've been spending our Stratford weekends at the Stewart House Inn for the past 5 years and we hope to continue for many years to come. The Innkeeper, Marc, is a terrific, warm, helpful host. Mary in administration has been great over the years and we've enjoyed getting to know her as well. Marc has a terrific staff - everyone so personable and eager to be of service. Coffee/tea service to the room before breakfast, always a 5-star meal to start the day, as well as a selection of tea/coffee/water and fresh-baked snacks available throughout the day and evening. Our room is always made up while we are eating and the house itself is beautiful with everything you could need to make a memorable visit - a bar/sitting room area, lovely little veranda in front, a comfortable sitting room/dining room and a great pool with plenty of places to lounge. We return to our room every evening to find it turned down, with helpful information laid out on the bed - weather reports, and a summary of what's going on in Stratford...as well as a welcome little snack on the fireplace. Their gentle little dog, Frances, is an extra treat. We love it here and look forward to returning the minute we drive away. Cannot rave enough about it!

Ditto to the raves already listed here! Marc could not have been more helpful. Due to availability we had to stay one night in the small West Indies Suite (we knew this when booked) but the staff moved our things to the Georgian for the last two nights. (Both bathrooms have heated floors!) Coffee or tea can be brought to the room before 8:30 so that you don't have to wait for the lovely breakfast served from 8:30 to 9:30. Breakfast was fresh and delicious. Coffee, tea, fruit and pastries are available all day. Our routine at the end of the day, when back form the theater, was to bring a teapot (with biscotti) back to the room. The only bad thing to say is that the weather wasn't warm enough to use the heated pool.

My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights recently and we were most impressed in every way. Marc and Mary are very friendly and helpful hosts, and they go out of their way to make sure everyone is enjoying their stay. This is technically an inn, but it is really a very fine B&B with nothing short of luxurious, tasteful and super comfortable furnishings and decor. We stayed in the Regency suite, which was so spacious and comfortable that we could have easily stayed for much longer. They have a wonderful morning room service (coffee and muffins) before breakfast, which is a really nice touch. The rooms are very quiet and peaceful (so don't let the nearby train tracks fool you....we never heard or saw a train!). The breakfasts were excellent and more than ample. The serving staff were also very friendly, courteous and helpful. Our vegan dietary preferences were very graciously and deliciously accomodated. The pool and garden area was a really relaxing treat. we spent a fair bit of time swimming and just enjoying the tranquil garden. Of course, the weather was very cooperative, but if it is not, there are several very pleasant and cozy sitting areas where one can relax and have a private conversation. Snacks in the form of tasty baked goods and fresh fruits abound, and special coffees and teas are available all the time. The location is also great; just a short walk along the river into town and adjacent to a wonderful park. My wife and I loved this place! We will definitely return!

Room Tip: The Regency room is awesome; get it if you can!

We stayed here in June 2008 for a family baptism, so decided to stay again for our grandson's birthday. We were warmly welcomed and met by Marc and Mary. We selected the Garden Suite, which had it's own separate entrance at the back of the house, with parking right outside. Our suite had direct access to the salt water pool and gardens. The food and service were simply outstanding, friendly and unobtrusive. The Garden Suite was beautifully appointed, and the heated bathroom floor was such a treat! Marc is full of helpful hints with what to see and do in Stratford. We were there for the Festival, and were enchanted by Fiddler on the Roof and amazed by Tommy, the rock opera. It is our official home away from home when we come to visit. If you choose to stay, you will not be disappointed!

Room Tip: The Garden Suite has private access to the pool and gardens. Parking is available right outside the...

You just can't do better than to stay with Mark, the gracious host of this Victorian house turned inn. His background with 5 star hotel management and his finely tuned taste have created romantic rooms with different themes, a beautiful pool , and exquisite breakfasts served in the morning. If you can get a reservation, book it!

The photos and description on the web looked fine -- clean with character. But when we got there, it was so much more. Warm hospitality, thoughtful investments, fabulous decor, everywhere, succulent Breakfasts, gracious pool and lounge area outdoors, and a house pet dog named Francis that is irresistible. In Stratford, this is the place to stay.

Room Tip: they're all good, all individual

A dream week-end at an inn that has all the amenities to make it a come back tradition. We where greeted by the utmost graciousness and the surroundings left us breathless. A true Victorian beauty with all the details that encompasses this era ;even a bell from our room for service ! Our Grand room was spacious and beautifully decorated with attention to details and with a working fireplace waiting for us every evening.
The breakfasts where so generous and delicious we did not need to eat till dinner and in our rooms at night there was always a big treat.
All in all we cannot wait to come back in the summer to experience the outdoor and their Hospitality. All the makings of a 5 star hotel !!!!!!!!!!

Room Tip: Look at the pictures from the site and you will have a very good idea of what you are getting.
