The Chisholms in Stratford
Ranked #13 of 89 Stratford B&B and Inns
Reviewed January 1, 2014

The best b and b I've ever been too. The location was great - about a ten minute walk to the downtown area. It was obvious a lot of care had gone into the design and maintenance of the house. The breakfast was amazing - two courses with fresh fruit.
Overall, it was the small details that really shone through. Coffee makers in each room, complimentary drinks in the fridge in the room - they even gave us a small bottle of champagne to help ring in the New Year.

Kent, the host, was also very nice and obviously passionate about his duty to serve and the local arts and entertainment community. He was helpful, but not over bearing, like some other b and b owners I have encountered.

Overall, great for couples or groups. They even have a small area off the dining room that is only for guests, so you don't feel like you are interfering in someone's personal life.

Great spot!

Room Tip: We stayed in the "red room", which had been refurbished and was no longer the colour red...

What a great start to the new year with your great review. Stratrford has a lot to offer on New Years although most of the Restaurants are shut down for the off-Theatre Season. Having places like the Montford dairy to offer another unique experience adds to the appeal of Stratford all year round.

It's taken me awhile to post this review given the holiday season, and I apologize for that - our stay was over my birthday weekend and the B&B and Ken couldn't have been better (didn't get to meet Diane). From the beginning, we knew we were going to be treated extremely well - there was a bottle of champagne in the room to congratulate me on my birthday. Ken offered a lot of great suggestions concerning where to eat for dinner and took great care to make sure our dietary needs were going to be looked after for breakfast. We got down for breakfast a little early to clean our car off and found that Ken had done that for us already - incredible service! The breakfast was amazing and it was great to get to know Ken a little better after we were well-fed. We also appreciated the opportunity to get to know the dogs a little (being huge dog people ourselves). We have never stayed at a B&B in Stratford before (having lived in K/W) but this is definitely the place we'll come back to!

Room Tip: We stayed in the English room - the slipper tub is incredible!

.Thank you for taking the time during a busy season to review our B&B. One of the advantages of a B&B is the personal service we can provide as we get to know our guests. To help make a Birthday, Anniversary, etc. special isa norm for most B&b's.

Taking a slow journey home we decided to stopover in Stratford for the night and I'm sure picked the best B&B in the area! The English Room, and en suite bathroom with the slipper tub etc was wonderful and so relaxing, the four course breakfast just amazing, and Kent was such an incredible source of local history. The location was perfect and in warmer weather we could have walked to most places. We are now determined to return in the summer for much more than one night.

The slipper back tub always catches everyone's attention when scanning B&B's on the web.
It is expecially appealing in the winter. Hope you are able to come back in-season to enjoy a outstanding playbill for 2014.

The hosts, Diane and Ken, are warm and interesting people. Breakfast is magnificent and the little extras made it even more welcoming. Everything was just perfect! The rooms were beautiful and I got up early to take a bath in the wonderful bathtub. I often stay in B&Bs and can heartily recommend this one.

This was our second visit for my birthday. This time we stayed in the Red Room, very lovely. As usual the service was exceptional and the breakfast was amazing. The location is within walking distance to downtown and restaurants. Dianne and Kent were wonderful and informative. We were pleasantly surprised to find a bottle of champagne and birthday card in our room upon our arrival. We enjoyed our stay and plan on returning next year. We would highly recommend this lovely B & B to all our family and friends.

Special occasions, such as Birthdays, Anniversaries, etc. are highlights of a visit to Stratford and our B&B. We are pleased to offer a complimentary 1/2 bottle of bubbley and a Chisholms in Stratford card for the occasion. Please let us know of those special occasions.

We were trying out Stratford as our new pre-Christmas shopping and relaxation location, after our favorite B&B in Bayfield closed--the Chisholms and the town at off-season have won our hearts. We've stayed at many B&B's in North America and the UK and can heartily reccommend the Chisholms. Everything was tiptop --every imaginable amenity, lovely and spotless room, a bathroom to die for, and an incredibly generous and delicious breakfast. Kent and Dianne obviously know and love their community and are fountains of information. The location is perfect for walking to shops and restaurants--although we planned on doing serious Christmas shopping (and the weather was blustery), so we took the car the few blocks into town. We didn't miss the bustle of the theater season--in mid-November, this was the perfect place to relax and get in the holiday mood!

The owners, Kent and Diane, will bend over backwards to make your stay here quite wonderful. They know the community, the restaurants, the plays of the season and always offer great advice on where to go, what to see and where to eat. The rooms, incidentally, are quite lovely and the breakfasts are fabulous.
