“Another Memorable Stay at The Birmingham Manor”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2012

If you are looking for a lovely place to stay while in Stratford, the Birmingham Manor is it!

We have enjoyed many Bed and Breakfasts in Stratford, but the Birmingham Manor is the one we will keep returning to. We and our friends didn't even consider going elsewhere after our great experience last year and were grateful we were able to book their four lovely rooms once again.

We were greeted warmly by our wonderful hosts, Dom and Elena and invited into the parlor for afternoon tea before settling in. Yummy homemade Biscotti and cookies were available all day and we especially enjoyed them with our morning coffee. Little touches like these make such a difference.

The three-course breakfasts were a feast for all our senses as they were as beautiful as they were delicious...and what fun to have dessert for breakfast! We looked forward each morning to see how Dom had arranged the fresh fruit plate which always brought on oohs and aahs and picture taking. Elena presented us with the most delicious homemade pastries and dishes and went out of her way to serve gluten-free baked goods to one of our friends. And she's happy to share her recipes and cooking secrets!

This beautiful victorian home is located within walking distance from the delightful shops and restaurants in town and a comfortable walk to the conservancy through neighborhood streets lined with unique houses to ogle. What a nice way to start one's day! If you'd rather relax in the morning, the wrap-around porch is a perfect spot.

Thank you, Dom and Elena, for another memorable stay. We so enjoyed our lively conversations with you and the laughter and cheerfulness of each day. We hope to come again and again.

As you say, "Grazie infinite!"
Ruth and Stuart

This was our second year staying at the Birmingham Manor during our visit to Stratford and we would like to continue our visits as long as we are able. Elena and Dom, our hosts, quickly became our family away from home. The rooms are beautifully appointed, comfortable, relaxing. Breakfasts are a delight - delicious, artistic, healthy. We highly recommend the Manor to anyone looking for something special as they travel.

Dom and Elena made us feel very welcome. A lovely couple. The entire home is clean and decorated with detail....lots of interested antiques. Room was spacious and inviting. Breakfast was beyond any expectations. Dom and Elena encourage guests to mingle during breakfast....great conversation....so much so Elena had a hard time getting a word in edgewise to describe the meal...three courses....for breakfast! An entertaining couple. Would definitely recommend the Birmingham if staying in Stratford.

Room Tip: Despite the lack of a/c the rooms were kept reasonably cool. We were there during a rather hot spel...

Thank you Dom and Elena for helping make our weekend memorable. Birmingham Manor is a real treat. We stayed in the Sandringham room and found it very quiet and spacious. The bed is very comfortable - we had great sleeps. The breakfasts were unbelievable - three courses and the conversation at the breakfast table was an extra bonus.

Our hosts were great, very hospitable and friendly. Excellent breakfasts, very special. Our room was the "Balmoral". It was exceptionally roomy and very clean and comfortable.. Complementary cold drinks and water in fridge just down the hall were appreciated. The house was built in 1904 and has retained its "period " appearance, very lovely, but with all modern ammenities. We especially enjoyed evenings on the large front porch. The only negative is that we could not stay longer, but will next time.

Room Tip: I don't think you good pick a bad room at this B&B.

We have been going to Stratford for many years and have finally found the very best B&B. We stayed last year and loved it, this year was even better. Dom & Elena are the most interesting, most gracious hosts. Breakfasts are to die for! Bravo!

We have stayed in many B & Bs in Stratford over the years, and the Birmingham Manor is truly one of our favourite experiences. Dom and Elena are welcoming, professional, knowledgeable, and do their utmost to make your time in Stratford enjoyable. The B & B is well furnished, comfortable, quiet, and clean, with many amenities as well as air conditioning (not always available at historic B & Bs).

As everyone has commented, the breakfasts are outstanding: three courses, always made from scratch from local ingredients (or as local as possible). Both Elena and Dom take pride in the quality of what they prepare and present, and the combination of tastes as well as the sheer visual delight of the breakfast table (a fresh floral arrangement every morning!) makes for a memorable start to every day at Stratford.

We also appreciate the many small extras, such as the upstairs refrigerator for guest use and the seemingly endless supply of excellent coffee, biscotti, and chocolate. Dom and Elena also ensure that the spacious verandah is an enjoyable place to chat, read, and relax, and the comfortable living room is always available for late evening discussions after the theatre.

And this brings us to one of the outstanding characteristics of a stay at the Birmingham Manor: the quality of conversation among the guests. We have met such interesting people, and we have had so many interesting exchanges with guests from around North America. I suspect that over the years this B & B built up a knowledgeable clientele, and since Elena and Dom have taken over they have fostered the loyalty of long-time guests as well as attracted new people who appreciate this very special experience.

We are definitely planning to return to the Birmingham Manor.
