“Where's the pork?”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 26, 2011

We ordered a new dish - the Taco Penne - very much a misnomer. As I ate it I wondered why it was ever named "Taco". The dish would have been ok if I had not been in the mood for a typical "taco" flavor. We ordered the full rack of pork ribs to go. They looked and tasted as if the cook had slapped some bland honey garlic sauce over boiled bones. The ribs were absolutely bare and had perhaps 2 bites of meat on each bone. Although the reduced price sounded attractive, we were not told that the full rack consisted of the tiniest "baby" back ribs. Ribs at Montana's for us from now on. The meat was chewy (not fall off the bone). French fries in the restaurant were quite enjoyable, but the take-out fries were quite the opposite.

We enjoyed our visit and the service was wonderful but the food wasn't anything to write home about.

“Cardboard box taste”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 6, 2010

Pizza wasn't any better than frozen box of pizza. Simple pasa dish for $6.95 on Tuesdays only was better. Big room lacking character but it was clean. Big booths for six people Nice outdoor patio..

“Pizza; dessert good / pasta not so much”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 5, 2008

We went here for an early dinner the other night - not very busy on a holiday weekend. Service was very friendly and quick, but a couple minor problems with the food. Not so bad that you'd want to return the menu items, but we sure wouldn't order any pasta meal with the bolognese sauce again. It tasted EXACTLY like the meat sauce that comes in a Chef Boyardee can. Was expecting a little better for the price ($14+). Pizza was good, but pepperoni was a bit well done (looked like it was forgotten under a broiler / salamander for a minute too long). Oh, well, dessert was fantastic, and in past visits, the New York Steak Sandwich with Caesar salad has been excellent.

“Slow service yielded average faire”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 29, 2008

We were new to Boston Pizza but gave it a whirl the first full day of our stay in nearby Thorold. No-one ordered pizza, and maybe that was our mistake as most of the food was acceptable but unspectacular, to say the least. Worse, though, was the service, which was slow and grinding. When you've got small kids in tow, things need to move swiftly along and waiting 20 minutes just to order is far too long -- especially when the restaurant isn't that busy. On the upside, though, the desserts were very good!
