I was there for a birthday party in the upstairs hall and we all walked downstairs to check out the museum. It was really nice.

We went to the canal to watch the ships go through the locks. We had no idea that there was a museum. There is no charge for admission, but a voluntary donation. There was a lot of interesting information about the town and other Canadian history.

Went here during March break, they had guided tours going on. The welland canal tour inc talks from historical people that influenced the area and canal! Wonderful idea and kids enjoyed it too!
Also did the archives tour! What great stuff they have there, and the time and effort they put into looking after the exhibits, and recording them,
Great tours!!

You can find the history of the Welland Canal as well as a viewing station for the ships that ply the lakes. History of the area is covered in many exhibits. St Catharines is a rowing city as well as Lacrosse, you can find information on these sports here. The Underground Railroad also went through St Catharines and there is much history to be found. In the Fall the museum has a walk in Victoria Lawn Cemetery with actors portraying past residents of St Catharines. Fall 2018 celebrated the 100th Anniversary of the end of WWI and the walk commemorated this. The staff is very helpful and knowledgeable.

H
Great start by being welcomed at the door. Museum was well laid out, all items/artifacts beautifully displayed and information was presented very well either by plaques or by the wonderful volunteers. Held the grandchildren's (and ours) attention during entire visit! Observation deck and play area beautiful. Would come back!
