1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2012

This was NOT a good experience. Regarding the room, there is no ventilator in the bath room, so the towels of the morning shower or beach towels are all wet at the end of the day. That also caused the room to be very humid and some smell of humidity from the back of the bead. Other than that the room was clean.

The electronic card to open the room was not even working half of the time. People of our group got equiped with 2 keys to prevent this but even 2 keys were not working. The best was to have reinitialize your key every time you were coming back to the hotel. Keeping them away of your cell as suggested did not do it.

The restaurant was often out of items from the menu. Even when told at the beginning of the meal that there were few peach pies left there were none by the time I ordered it even if I had asked to reserve one at the beginning of the meal. The other 3 tables did not take this desert (I checked since the others were part of our group or still eating their entries). Where did these pies went if they were offered at the beginning of my meal and even after my salad !!!

On Saturday morning while I was invited to enter the restaurant at 6:30. The hotel manager and restaurant staff were arguing should it open at 6:30 or 7:00. I was then either locked out with my juice already served at my table, or locked in with my personnal things at the table in the corridor.

When asking the front desk for directions to get to the rental car office I was just told that they did not know. Not offering to look on the internet for the street adress and map.

While we had made arrangements for the room price, at departure the cost of the room was not what we had agreed on. I had a drink charged to my room and what not showing on my bill. Friends also had food from the restaurant not charged on their bill. There was also the extra Planet Energy charge that I did not even bother to ask what it was, being so desperate that there was nothing to do with that hotel.

What happens with that hotel !!! It seemed as it is run by students at their first job. Good location, clean, good food when available but don't expect more.

Room Tip: Keep close to the front desk to reinitialize your keys !!!!!

We booked our last minute stay here after all the downtown Niagara Hotels were booked. The lobby seemed clean and inviting. The lobby staff was helpful and friendly. We had a room with two queen beds. The room was okay but a little dusty. The bathroom shower tiles were moldy, there isn't an exhaust fan. The fridge was clean and cold. There wasn't a safe available in the room. We had a patio with direct access to the pool which was nice. We had family in a room next to us and the had caught a centipede on their pillow and on the carpet. Luckily our room was bug free. Overall good price for the room and friendly staff.

Good hotel for a night or two. Good location, right beside the highway and close to shopping, restaurants and Port Dalhousie. Nice lobby area, but you’ll smell the chlorine from the indoor pool as soon as you walk in. Restaurant is okay. Rooms were average, but did enjoy the balcony and courtyard area with 2nd pool. Would recommend.

Thank you for your recent review. Historical Port Dalhousie is less than 5 minutes away where you can enjoy the beautiful beach, restaurants, shopping or just taking a evening walk on the pier with a view of Toronto skyline. A must stop and see when visiting St Catharines! We are looking into the chorine smell as we've introduced a saltwater system recently which has reduced our chlorine usage by 75%. We look forward to welcoming you again.

Nice affordable hotel, good location for touring wineries and Niagara on the Lake area. Has two pools and good breakfasts available and good size rooms and 'free' wifi. Courtyard view is quiet. When checking out there was a fee 3.75 plus .49 tax called DMF. That was for the pools and wifi. Also a "planet energy" tax of 2.00 plus .26 tax. I dont know what that was. The main hotel bill cost has a 13 % tax added - a VAT type tax called HST in Ontario.

My wife and I stayed here for two nights along with another couple while we were attending the annual, "Graze the Bench," in Beamsville. We have stayed here before and found the hotel to be clean and the staff very friendly.
Unfortunately, the same cannot be said of the adjoining restaurant. We dined there one evening and although my wife and I had no problems with our food, one of our friends did and the incident was not handled well by the restaurant manager. Our friend ordered 10 chicken wings for a price of $9.99. When she received her order, there were 9 chicken wings on her plate plus a wing tip with absolutely no meat on it. The cook must have been blind to offer something like this to a customer. We summoned the waitress and she sent the manager over. The manager agreed that this was completely unacceptable and offered our friend more wings. Our friend said that she had ordered 10 wings because that's all she can eat, so she didn't want another bunch of wings to replace the wing tip. The manager offered no other options to deal with the situation and walked away. Some restaurant managers might solve the problem by telling the customer that her meal is free or even by deducting one dollar for the missing wing (10 wings for ten dollars equals one dollar per wing). That's all our friend wanted which isn't too much to ask. Since this matter wasn't resolved satisfactorily, my wife and I felt very uncomfortable while our friend's husband yelled at the manager from a distance about how incompetent she is. For her part, the manager simply walked into the kitchen to avoid any further confrontation. Perhaps she also wanted to instruct the cook on the difference between a wing tip and a wing with meat on it.
On the morning of our departure, I found the bill for our stay on the floor by the door. It was incorrect because a charge for more than ten dollars had been erroneously added to our account by this same restaurant. I went to reception and the accounts manager happened to be there. To his credit, the bill was corrected within minutes.
We might stay at this hotel again, but we certainly won't be dining on the premises. The cook and the manager don't appear to be too competent and we could be the next ones fruitlessly complaining about the quality of the food.

We spent two nights at this hotel. It is 10 - 15 minutes away from the wine route making it convenient for wine tastings, tours and shopping. The same distance away is Niagara Falls and even closer is Niagara-on-the-lake. Next door is Costco and there is a Kelsey's across the street. The hotel itself has Wrigley's sports bar which is great at night, but breakfast is another matter. Go elsewhere for breakfast! I've never seen so many people seeking out the wait staff in the kitchen to complain about long waits and incorrect servings. There are washers and dryers which is convenient and indoor and outdoor pools plus a fitness center. Ample parking. Each room has a balcony or a patio. The rooms facing the courtyard might be the best bet. Smoking is allowed on the balcony or patio if the air conditioning is turned off and the door closed. The rooms themselves are quite nice. We had one queen sized bed, desk, couch and small table, plus the TV with armoire and fridge and microwave. The staff are very helpful and pleasant. We did have trouble with our key card and had to have it reprogrammed 4 times. Seems to have been more a problem with our card reader for our room as it opened the outer doors fine. The hotel was very quiet while we were there. Our room was clean and the bed was comfortable. It was fine.
