Our stay was a unique step back into history, hearing about the home's previous owners and how the home was part of the boarding school and college life of the last century. Chatting with other guests at breakfast was special. The bed was very comfortable, which I need due to a sensitive shoulder.
Some suggestions for the hosts to address: (1.) providing locks & keys for rooms and front door, which could be an insurance issue if a guest's safety has been compromised, this would protect the owners from possible legal issues; (2.) Improve ambiance of the room we were in with night tables & lamp. Lamps on the wall are hard on the eyes for reading. I realize a step back in history is one thing but I do miss TV. (3.) The tub is nice to look at but if a senior has mobility issues, this would not be something one should not use without assistance.
It was good to learn that WiFi was available but had to ask for the p/w key. I didn't have an issue with the two German Shepherds but others may. We were surprised to learn that cash was required, we were required to give credit card details to reserve this stay. Finding a bank machine during our walk was a challenge.
Stefan provides a breakfast experience that would match any fancy hotel. Thanks Andrea for your part in this experience.

Room Tip: There may be a better option so ask.

Travellers who enjoy historic neighbourhoods with a nod to grand pasts will appreciate this most elegant bed and breakfast. Its setting, within walking distance of the old town centre and in close proximity to a creek ravine provides great opportunity for walks at each end of the day. Hosts Andrea and Stefan are accommodating, gracious and altogether perfect Inn-keepers. The room and bed were superbly comfortable. The lounge is luscious. The breakfast was scrumptious. I am determined to return on a purely recreational trip, take my bike and do the Niagara area waterfront and welland trails using Springbank as basecamp.

My husband and I recently returned from a wonderful three night stay at Springbank House Inn. Coming from the States we had no preconceived expectation for the stay. We simply were looking for a clean and safe place to sleep as the main focuse was to see our children row in the Royal Canadian Henley. To our surprise we found ourselves enjoying the wonderful hospitality of Stefan and Andrea. Stefan is an executive chief with quite the resume. Andrea was also in the hospitiality business managing a five star hotel in Brumuda known for its accomodations of celebreties and other famous personalities. The couple has taken these experiences and put their knowledge and talent into Springbank House Inn. As Andrea described it to me, "it is nice to work hard for oneself". Springbank House Inn is more than a typical B&B. It is a five star experience. Thanks Stefan and Andrea. We hope to see you again next year and bring the rest of the family.

This bed and breakfast does not have a lock on any of the room doors which means they are accessible to anyone else staying in the house. The front door of the house has a lock but is only used at night which means during the day the house and your room are accessible to ANYONE!

Our visit was in the middle of June, which was a very hot month this year. The owner would not turn on the air conditioning, even when we requested to have it on. We had to bring in our own fans to use in the room, which the owner turned off when we left the room briefly. Yes, the owner would enter our room without our permission!

The heat made it uncomfortable but the main concern was security. I would not return to this B&B and would not recommend it to anyone.

Thank you for your response.
Our property is located in "safe" Canada and even "safer" Niagara.
What a great neighbourhood our Downtown Heritage District is?

We are proud to state that keys or locks are not used in many homes across Canada.
Isn't it good news to find a destination where there is safety and trust among people?

We are saddened to learn that the guest(s) mentioned that they asked for the A/C to be turned on and was refused as we do not recall. June 2011 in Niagara had beautiful spring weather which sometimes dipped to lower temperatures on some days. If our guest felt uncomfortable, then let us know.

Our experience with guests staying at our B&B is that they have planned days that take them away from the property for the day. During this time, we try to conserve energy. So we do apologize if our guest(s) stayed in for the day and found the June temperatures too hot. It would have been kind of them to tell us then and not after they checked out.

It is customary to enter a guest room during the day to service the room and to check that all is in order as the guest rooms are within our home. Again, if our "presence in the room without permission" offended the guest, then say something to us while you are staying with us and not after the fact.

Please give Springbank House and Canada another chance as we take pride in making our guests feel at home and comfortable.

P.S. We do remember a family that stayed with us in June. When they left, they said that they had a great stay and even asked us to take a group photo....We wonder.....

From the moment we were greated by Bruno the handsome dog and met Andrea and Stefan we were in heaven. Indeed, this beautiful house is located in a very quiant area of St. Catharines; not too far from the wineries of Niagara-on-the-Lake, Jordan and Beamsville.

The rooms are very large with equally spacious ensuite; lovingly restored from its original splendor. The bed is extremely comfortable and oversized. With the cool night breeze, it didn't take long to fall asleep.

The breakfast was a healthy combination of fruit and masterfully created dishes that varied from mushroom omelet to french toast brioche. The quiet attention from Andrea and Stefan made us feel right at home and part of the family.

The best part of our stay was sitting in the living room with a good glass of wine (of course from one of the nearby wineries), a book, soft jazz playing in the background and Bruno at our feet. It also provided a chance to exchange tidbits of our recent visits with Stefan who was sure to point us in the right direction to the best kept secrets in the area.

Next time, we'll definitely include a Chef's table dinner as it's really something we missed during this visit. But what a perfect excuse to return!

We really fell in love with both Andrea and Stefan and can't wait to visit them again. They are by far the best hosts one could expect. The bar is set extremely high from now on!

We chose Springbank House to meet with friends in the Niagara area. It turned out to be the perfect place for us. After a long drive it was so good to sit on the cool stone porch, looking at a shaded garden and a bubbling fountain! Stefan and Andrea made us all feel right at home and that evening Stefan cooked us an incredible meal! He is a trained chef and certainly proved it with that night's dinner!! The house is large and comfortable, we were able to spend some evenings in the living room, catching up with each other, and the bedrooms were great. Roomy and nicely decorated, with a sitting area and a very comfortable bed. The only word of caution would be for older people: the beautiful antique clawfoot tub in the bathroom might present a slight problem, but not enough to keep you away!! The location was just right for our purposes, Niagara Falls, vinyard tours and the Shaw Festival in Niagara-on-the-Lake. The house is located in a tree-lined area, and a short walk away is a community park complete with bandshell where concerts are held. Off-road parking is a plus. We loved our stay - did I mention Bruno, their self-appointed greeter? A very loveable and well-behaved dog, never heard him bark! The breakfasts were just right too. Thanks, Stefan and Andrea, for creating such a wonderful home away from home!

Our wonderful hosts, Andrea & Stefan, not only welcomed us into their gracious B&B but made us feel honoured to be celebrating our friendship under their roof. I cannot say enough about those two. Andrea is elegance personified. Her soft voice and suspenseful telling of a story holds you in the palm of her hand.

And then there's Stefan. His eyes sparkle, his personality sparkles - he is Andrea's compliment. And he is a master chef - truly!

We were 3 women who had known each other since we were toddlers; our lives had gone in different directions. This was a special weekend getaway for us. My girlfriend's husband (the one who was celebrating her 50th B'day) arranged to have Stefan cook us a private 4 course meal on the Saturday evening. The meal was so beautiful pictures were taken of each plate and emailed to hubby with thanks before we dug in. (How did we live before blackberry's?). Then not a single morsel was left on our plates. Not a crumb.

Personally, I will find any excuse to be in that neck of the wood's again and under Andrea & Stefan's roof. How lovely to know I will be welcomed with open arms. They are treasures.
