A lot of people I know in town have never been to The Root even though they've lived here for years - it is a bit off the beaten path in terms of proximity to other dining options in the Soo but it's well worth the extra 10 minute drive to get there!
The Root doesn't have a large dining room but it is rustic and cozy and has a nice fireplace in the middle for the winter months. It is an Italian restaurant and the homemade pasta is excellent. Often they will have prime rib and fresh fish specials that are absolutely delicious. Overall a great menu with a wide variety of choices and prices slightly lower than other restaurants of the same caliber in the Soo.
If you're in to golf, even better because you can play a round and then enjoy a good meal on the patio that overlooks the first tee.
