This little museum should be on everyone's list of things to do in Sault Ste Marie Ontario! It has a bunch of actual "bush planes" on display, some of which you can climb right into. In addition, and best of all, it has a couple of movies (15 minutes each)--one of actually flying a bush plane which is quite humorous and enjoyable and the other a 3-D movie of fire-fighting by air--it is also quite well done and you REALLY get the feel of what it feels like to fly a water bombing plane. Later, after the movie, you can go back into the main part of the museum and actually climb into a plane just like the one in the movie. Also very enjoyable is a small plane that you enter into which projects various flights right onto the windshield of the cockpit so that you almost feel like you are actually in flight (not unlike a flight simulator, but without the motion). All in all this place is very interesting and a lot of fun.

If you are in to planes, check this out. Great history with the bush planes, would visit again. Two theaters, one in 3D. Kids had a blast, can actually sit in some of the planes, see how cramped some of them are.

Intested in small planes? Don't skip this riverside hangar full of bushplanes, equipment and a great show. Lots to see for young and old. This museum has come a long way in the last decades.

It's not an overly large museum but I could have spent hours here. It is a very well thought out and maintained facility. The staff was great. We were one of the first visitors that day and a staff member approached us to tell us he would run the 3D movie early if we wanted to see it. Great, informative films, beautiful exhibits. For plane enthusiasts this is a must see.

This great little museum is so unexpectedly fun. You can climb into many of the planes on display. There are several short films about fighting forest fires. In one plane, you sit in the pilot's seat and the movies make you feel like you are flying over the forests and lakes of the north. Another film is 3D, and a third one uses surprising special effects that make the audience laugh aloud. Unfortunately, the museum does not look very exciting from the outside and even the entrance area is quite old fashioned, so that it doesn't seem to get as many visitors as it deserves.
