This year our group chose the Niagara region for our annual bicycle adventure. The Red Coat became our home away from home for three nights. Our rooms like the rest of this beautifully updated home were tastefully appointed and impeccably clean. The setting was idyllic... peacefully tucked away off the beaten path yet central to the region and a short drive (or ride) to its many attractions. Having booked all three rooms for our stay we drew straws to choose who stayed in which room... and everybody won (just check out the photos on their website). My wife and I enjoyed our stay in Sheaffe's Loft which was without doubt the largest and one of the most attractive B&B rooms we have ever stayed in... we really did hate to leave. The others in our group were equally pleased with their rooms and the group took advantage of the spacious balcony off the Brock suite to meet nightly to replay the day and enjoy the peaceful surroundings with glass of one of the local wines.
Sandra and Keith were exemplary hosts and went out of their way to accomodate our special requests (like safely housing 5 bicycles) and make us feel genuinely welcome and very much at home! Each and every one of their recommendations, whether for dining, buying fresh produce, wine tasting and places to see was spot on. Sandra's breakfasts were, in a word, exceptional! They often left our group debating between requesting a repeat performance or relishing the next day's cullinary surprise. As good as the breakfasts were, we equally enjoyed our hosts company and conversation. They made us feel like "old friends" who'd dropped in for a visit.
In short, our stay at the Red Coat was wonderful! Would I recommend it to others... absolutely!
It was one of the best B& B experiences we have enjoyed anywhere!

My husband and I stayed at the Red Coat this past weekend for our Mini-Moon, it was awesome! We have never been to the Niagara-on-the-Lake area, so this was our first visit, and we were not disappointed. The Red Coat Inn is located in Queenston, which is a short drive to Niagara Falls and a short drive or even a bike ride to NOTL. We loved that it was not in the hustle and bustle of a busy town. It was a nice quiet retreat after spending a day out. Sandra and Keith are wonderful, they are down-to-earth, and very personable - very easy to share a conversation with, and made you feel at home. They were also very helpful in recommending restaurants and things to do around the area. The breakfasts were very tasty - fresh local fruits and vegetables, good coffee, home baked goods and great atmosphere. We stayed in the Sheaffe's Loft. It was perfect for us. It was on the top floor away from the other rooms, so very private and secluded. If you are looking to have a romantic get away, and a bit more privacy, this is the room to stay in. We couldn't have asked for a better trip, better place to stay, it was terrific! Cannot wait to go back! Oh, and we highly recommend the Ravine Winery for dinner, the food is amazing, the staff and service wonderful and the view of the vineyard - stunning! Happy travels : )

The Red Coat is perfectly located between the kitsch and crowds of Niagara Falls and Niagara-on-the-Lake. The great thing is, it's very quiet there, which is perfect for city slickers needing a secluded retreat. Sandra and Keith were terrific hosts, who eagerly helped us to find our way around. My wife and I are from the States, living near Washington, DC, where service with a smirk is the norm. When we arrived at the Red Coat Inn, after a long drive, we were immediately charmed by Sandra's and Keith's Canadian hospitality, and we felt like old friends coming to visit. We stayed in the Brock Suite, which was large, tastefully decorated, and it had a large deck. Best of all, the air conditioner worked very well during a very hot spell for Ontario.

Sandra's breakfasts were delicious and the presentation was like being at a banquet. We relished the conversations that we had with the other guests each morning. Keith helped with the breakfast service and his friendliness was genuine. We could not have asked for a "nicer" place to stay.

To other Americans: if you head to Niagara Falls for a romantic getaway, consider crossing into Queenston, Canada, for a B&B experience that will likely cost less than any midrange hotel in the Buffalo/Niagara area.

Room Tip: Ask for the suites, because they are far bigger and worth the extra money.

My husband and I just got back from an amazing night at the Redcoat. This was our first bed and breakfast experience and it has us both pleasantly surprised. The room was absolutely stunning and the hosts, Keith &Sandra were personable and made us feel at home. The home itself is tastefully decorated and nestlled on a quite street. It's a bit out of the way from all the action but at the end of a busy day it's the perfect spot. Wineries are close and hiking is right out the front door. The other two suites were occupied while we were there and we didnt hear a peep. I would recommend this B&B to anyone looking for a tranquil and romantic spot.

This B&B is a beautiful century home with a seamless addition to accommodate the three guest suites. The house is situated on the Bruce Trail between Niagara Falls and Niagara-On-The-Lake, perfect for biking, hiking and day tripping to local wineries. We stayed for 3 nights and had lovely, nutritious home baked breakfasts each morning. We also used the dining room area for a business planning meeting. It worked very well. The beds were very comfortable.
Keith and Sandra were wonderful, knowledgeable hosts who loved their B&B and the area. We would love to return anytime!

We had made a reservation for December, but my daughter became sick, and we had to reschedule; even though the change was very last minute, our hosts were very accommodating and allowed to change our date to January. We were not disappointed! The house is a beautiful, heritage building in a quiet corner of Queenston. My girlfriend and I are both Niagara locals, so we appreciated being so close to the action of Niagara Falls and NOTL, but in the cozy setting of Queenston, close to the river, Queenston Heights, and the Bruce Trail. Keith and Sandra were excellent and gracious hosts, very friendly - like catching up with old friends. Breakfast was elegant and scrumptious. We had a wonderful 'date weekend', and I'm sure we'll be back!

Room Tip: The Brock Suite has a lovely balcony, bring good hiking shoes and take a walk up the Bruce Trail to...

My husband and I stayed at The Red Coat B&B for 2 nights to celebrate our anniversary. We stayed in the Loft suite and it was VERY nice! It was the perfect choice for a romantic weekend! This B&B is in a very quiet area but close to everything the Niagara area has to offer. The hosts were really nice and very knowledgeable about the area. And the breakfasts were DELICIOUS! We highly recommend The Red Coat!
