Whalesbone...!! OK it is expensive but worth every cent!

I will list the reasons why:
- great friendly atmosphere
- hadn't been there in a year and staff recognized us and gave us a free appetizer
- 18 oyster plate as a starter - incredible
- swordfish appetizer - melted in our mouths
- our main courses were lobster (my fave) with risotto (also a fave) and walleye, both meals with light creamy sauces...mmm
- their sound system is an old turntable and vinyl records
- service is always excellent
- the table to our left and the table to our right were both raving about the meals at the same time we were - we also compared notes!!
- can't say enough - this place rocks!

Small, trendy restaurant offering delicious ethical food. A bit pricey but worth the money for a nice night out. Wait staff was fun and informative. Oyster bar looked great although we didn't partake this visit.

Crispy clams for an appetizer, great but $25…

The scallop cerviche is outstanding.

We sampled the mackerel and the walleye. Both were marvellous. The accompaniments were eclectic and creative; crispy egg plant and sauces with lime and a hint of delicate Thai.

Desserts are in poor order. Churros con chocolate – ho hum, banana cream pie – really? and cheese from Quebec – why not. This needs to be fixed.

The wine list is small but complements the menu perfectly with some unusual offerings not found everywhere.

Service is friendly, knowledgeable and cheery.

The ambiance is hard to beat. Music provided by a vinyl spinning DJ and a cosy open window atmosphere.

It’s a happy, happening place.

Very fresh fish, and the presentation was superior. Staff was helpful and most friendly. Excellent service.
Small setting added to ambiance--spinning vynil records was a treat not to be missed.
Well worth a visit. Crowded at times so get there at a reasonable time so you wont have to wait long.

Had a chance last week to eat at the Whalesbone Oyster House on Banks. What an excellent little find it was. Small menu but excellent quality and value. Oysters were very good. Service was excellent. Not a place you would stumble upon but worth looking up.
