My wife, 8 month old son, and I just brought one of our friends to the restaurant for Sunday brunch. We had stopped by the booth at Bon Appetit-and while we've purchased fish from them in the past-it took the samplings at Bon Appetit to convince us to try a meal.

Boy-were we impressed. Right from the start-our server Matt provided exceptional service, and the other older waiter (I'm sorry I didn't get his name) was also extremely friendly. They were both quite knowledgeable about the menu and very accommodating.

And the food-I can't even begin to describe how impressed we were! We've had brunch at a heck of a lot of restaurants in Ottawa-and it was, by far one of the best brunches we've ever had. Our only problem was that we wanted to keep eating even though we were full!

We will definitely be back for brunch, and will definitely come out for supper soon (babysitter permitting!).

...and actually we went back the next weekend the Sunday after my wife's birthday. Exact same experience.

We tend to forget about Pelican, but when we go (once every few months, usually), it's consistently delicious-- they have a small menu, but everything is wonderful. The service is good too. They readily take into account allergies & sensitivities (gluten, in my case). And leave room for dessert-- this is one of the rare restaurants that has desserts as good as their mains.

I took my boyfriend here last night for his birthday and we both absolutely love, love, loved it!
The service was excellent and the food was amazing. Neither of us had been there before and we both really like seafood. It takes a lot for us to be impressed with new places, but we definitely were with this one. We cannot wait to go back!!

Be sure to make reservations since it is a small establishment, but a very, very popular one!
Service and food were fantastic!!

The Pelican Grill in Ottawa not only is an institution, but one that has kept the high level of excellence we're used to. The ingredients are always fresh and the best and their cook knows what to do with his ingredients, so you get a lot more than you pay for. Classic dishes with an innovative touch and very knowledgeable charming staff. They recently did a little makeover of the interior (didn't need it as it was quaint and very sympathetic as it was), while keeping their popular restaurant and the sales section open - all while remaining very friendly and warm as usual. We're fans of the Pelican Grill for years and go there regularly. NOT once disappointed by anything here in all these years.

Today was the launch of The Pelican Grill's brand new Sunday Brunch which is served from 9 AM till 2 PM.

Here's the menu: http://www.pelicanfisheryandgrill.com/Portals/123/CustomPages/Pelican%20Brunch.pdf

Our table of 4 were served by staff who were enthusiastic, polite and efficient. The menu was explained in great detail as we munched on freshly baked divine banana bread. My choice was the very excellent Pelican Seafood breakfast sandwich...........Large egg, over easy, served on a toasted Kettleman’s sesame bagel with herb & caper cream cheese, and Pelican smoked salmon. ($7) A side salad was also ordered. ($3) The portion of smoked salmon was very generous. The choices of the other 3 tablemates were equally enjoyed: Strawberry, Blueberry Cointreau French Toast, BLT Quiche and Pelican Benny---2 ways.

Considering this was the first brunch day, everything was executed perfectly by Kim and her very capable staff. Congratulations!

I would recommend brunch very highly and look forward to another visit to the restaurant soon.
