Unfortunately the place looks nice but we were VERY DISAPPOINTED.
It took more than half an hour to get our course and it's not because there were a lot of people. The quality/price ratio was very bad.
A pizza very small that looked burned and calamari that looked and taste like onion rings!
The price of the wine was presented in such a way that it was not clear, an it ended up being more expensive than what we saw first on the menu.
The waitress was nice but couldn't do anything else than excuse herself and it was not her fault.
It's an insult to Italian cuisine to serve this food, specially for the price they ask for.

Ottawa has many great restaurants, unfortunately Mangia is not one of them. I'd had lunch here a few years ago and remembered better food. Tonight I had the beet and goat cheese salad, gnocchi and chicken; all edible but nothing stood out. Certainly not worth the price.

WOW! I have noooo words to describe this restaurant. I've been there a couple of times before, but never had the chance to write something about them.

The restaurant is modern, beautiful, well decorated, lot of taste.
The service is absolutely one of the best I have ever seen, very polite, fast and very friendly.

The food is so delicious. The appetizers are amazing...from the crostinis, bruschettas, mussels...everything is very good.

I would totally recommend the Seafood Linguini with the rosée sauce. It is very delicious.
The chicken marsala, the chicken pizza, pesto linguini and mussels in white cream sauce are my fave. You cannot go wrong with this restaurant.

You won't regret it.

As a mainly single (English) eater, this place offers a great atmosphere, with very friendly, polite engaging staff, with lovely food and a decent selection of drinks - Katie, is the best waitress in Ottawa!

Not sure why some of the recent reviewers didn't like the food, I couldn't fault it for the $25 per course mark - you would certainly pay a lot more for the same quality place in England!

Go in and make your own mind up - best to book on a Friday, as it can get busy.

Located centrally in the Byward Market, Mangia sparks your interest as you look into the warm, yet modern restaurant. Decent wine list contain most of the usual suspects. Reasonably priced about about 30-40. The menu is priced with about 11-18 for Apps and 18-25 for the Pastas and about 23-30 for the entrees.
But the food simply put was extremely disappointing. I did not go in expecting anything revolutionary but expected the restaurant to deliver on some of the basics. Food essentially lacked flavour and the plates had a very amateurish feel to them. Saving grace: Bread was fresh baked and quite delicious.
I would not go there if I wanted to have a memorable meal.
