“A Fitting tribute”
Reviewed November 18, 2013

Just in front of the main memorial is the tomb of the Unknown Warrior, the location is ideal in that no traffic is too close, and the surrounding trees create an ideal atmosphere to contemplate the huge sacrifice this monument is dedicated to.

“Worth the Trip for Remembrance Day”
Reviewed November 12, 2013

We took the kids on a road trip to Ottawa to experience Remembrance Day at the National War Memorial. We arrived early at the cenotaph to find a spot and were able to get a spot with a good view above the crowds so our (short) kids could see. It is a very moving experience to watch the parade of soldiers and veterans, hear the artillery canons fire, and participate in the ceremony with the Prime Minister, GG, and other notables right there in front of you. It is also a completely different experience from participating at home...there are so many military people in Ottawa that it makes it feel very different...more personal and more real. The kids were impressed with all the different types of Military represented and it was especially moving to see Military personnel there with THEIR FAMILIES. We returned at night to lay our poppies on the tomb of the unknown soldier..very moving. The monument itself is beautiful and peaceful and completely accessible. Glad we took the time to go.

“Lovely Monument”

This monument is a good photographic option and also has the tomb of the unknown soldier in front of it. Very nicely structured and situated close to parliament buildings and main town area.

“Amazing!”
Reviewed November 8, 2013

The National War Memorial was really nice. I went at night time and it was really cool seeing the memorial all lit up. The tomb of the unknown solider was really moving. Once again being able to go up and touch the memorial really made me proud of how open Canada is.
