Whatever you do, do not be dissuaded by the perceived difficulty of getting to the Thai Flame Restaurant. The street address was changed by the government recently so the exact street number doesn’t show up on GPS.
The places rates a solid 5 out of 5 or 100% or A+ rating whatever you want to call perfection! The name should be changed to “Lao Flame” because the owners are from Laos and understand Laotian food and Thai!
They make real Lao food with real Lao sticky rice. The veggie dishes are mouthwatering, the noodles spectacular, and the Pad Thai delightful. The chicken and beef dishes are hot and spicy, and very pleasant to the eye.
The staff is very friendly, and helpful, and the price point is excellent.
The bathrooms are very clean which leads me to believe the kitchen is very clean.
The restaurant although based in a plaza, has the traditional Lao and Thai art inside, and is dressed up very well.
Next time I visit Ottawa, I will make sure to eat here again. The group I was with were made up of former Laotians who are now Canadian and they commented that the food is of the same quality of that cooked at home which is a very good sign.
Great restaurant worth making a point to visit and the best Lao/Thai food found anywhere from Ontario to Newfoundland!
