Doesn't really matter, as it was an excellent, casual place for pastries, coffee and breads done in the 'old world' manner. Most enjoyable and a great place for a casual meal or break.

If you like scones that are crumbly yet rich with lots of nuts, you must try the blueberry almond or blueberry hazelnut scones at Le Moulin de Provence. I am getting my boyfriend to buy them whenever he visits Ottawa on business from now on. My second favourite was the "energy bar" - full of nuts and yummy stuff, and just enough chocolate to hit the spot. The Obama cookie is cute and famous, so makes a cute souvenir, but is really just sweet iced shortbread cookie that is not a great shortbread either.

We wanted somewhere that sold traditional pastries for breakfast and we hit the jackpot at this place. My ham and cheese croissant was yum! The selection is amazing.

Let’s get one thing straight: We love the Byward Market! What a great place to find fresh food, cool stuff, great bars and restaurants! However, there are always exceptions. This place is one of them. Any place with huge photos of Obama (outside AND in) offering money is bound to have a bad effect on some people ... like us. However, since we were in the mood for a tasty-looking croissant, we decided to make our way through the crowd of (other) tourists. The Obama photo is a harbinger of what you get inside: American overpriced kitsch and counter servers who are so prétentieux that you half expect them to wear a (tarbanac de) béret basque and a pencil moustache (Allo allo allo! Ou la la!) as they genuflect before the image of the current American Ceaser. Please!!! Who is next, Sarko (le nain du jardin!)? A merely decent croissant saved this review from advocating a lower score. But c’mon, really??!!
