I happened to stumble upon this magical little bookshop while having dinner at the popular 4th Avenue Wine Bar the night before. Located on the 2nd floor of a beautiful heritage home, this hidden gem is definitely worth a visit and specializes in hard to find, out of print, used, and rare books. I think it is actually called Dragan Tail Bookshop (previously loved books bought and sold).
From the moment you walk into this place, there is truly a sense of having stepped into a sacred space. The many books related to spirituality, world religions, philosophy, yoga, health, etc. may have something to do with this, but there's something else. Old and rare books cover every wall of this little bookshop from floor to ceiling. Beams of light stream in through the the few windows lighting up the small dust particles in the air. Its like something out of the Never Ending Story.
The owner/proprietor of the shop himself, who was also incredibly helpful and knowledgeable, exudes a sense of peace and tranquility. He offers patrons tea at no cost as they peruse the books and discusses life, philosophy, and yoga. I've heard rumors that he may soon be adding some tables/chairs, etc. and begin serving coffee, etc. inside and on the small balcony out-front - a spiritual cafe, if you will. That would be amazing, and I can assure you the place will always be full if he does!
