Owner description: The Museum engages visitors with the wonder of flight through its spectacular collection, educational programming, activities, and special events. The Museum focuses on aviation in Canada, but within an international context, from its beginnings in 1909 to the present day. As Canada’s contribution to aviation expanded to include aerospace technology, the Museum’s collection and mandate grew to include space flight. The Collection itself consists of more than 130 aircraft and artifacts (propellers, engines) from both civil and military service. It gives particular, but not exclusive, reference to Canadian achievements. The most extensive aviation collection in Canada, it is also considered one of the finest in the world.Care and development of this collection remains one of the Museum’s main purposes. The Museum practises conservation and restoration techniques to keep the collection in a condition equal to the highest standards.

Because I can't figure out how to do it otherwise, I'm using this as a way to let you know that in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada the Canada Aviation Museum is the same institution as the National Aviation Museum. The former is its current name. Perhaps you could move the review under the older name to the new name and delete the reference to the National Aviation Museum. Having two names for the same attraction is confusing.

Sep 1, 2005. Gray Line tour of Ottawa. Our first driver, Ron, picked us up at the motel at 9:15 and took us to the Kiosk to purchase our tickets [$52 with tax and discount, good for 2 days]. First tour starts at 10:00. Ron suggested we ride along for the full 2 hour tour to become acquainted with the attractions and 15 stops. Then we could go around again, getting off at those points of interest to us. So we spent the day on the Gray Line. This is an open air double-decker trolley. We rode on the covered lower level in the morning as we didn’t have jackets. It gets pretty breezy up top. But went up top the second time around as the view is so much better, and that is where the tour guide sits. Our first tour guide was Sarah. Both Ron & Sarah had a good sense of humor. Among the sights were the Parliament Bldgs; 24 Sussex Drive; Rideau Hall, Falls, and Canal; RCMP Stables –home of the musical ride; Embassies of Saudi Arabia, France, USA, Quwait; Byward Market. We chose to get off at the Aviation Museum. Admission was $5 each. Allow at least 1 ½ hours. In addition to all the planes and related displays, there are numerous interactive exhibits, as well as scheduled workshops for kids. One large section was roped off for a new exhibit being set up, plus an additional new building will open later this year. We thoroughly enjoyed this museum. .
