the building just underwent major renovations over a number of years.
the exhibits are beautiful and will be appreciated by children of all ages. Exhibits of polar bears, deer, wolves and dinosaurs will intrigue everyone's interest. See Canada's fauna at its best within this historical restored building. its a short walking distance of the Rideau Canal parkway and the Pretoria's lifting bridge. Turn north and follow the Canal to the National Arts Center, the old Union Station building, Chateau Laurier and Parliament Hill its a 15 to 20 minute walk, its beautiful!

We took our grandchildren here for the current exhibit about ants. The museum has been completely renovated since our children were growing up. It is now much more interactive and a perfect place to visit with children or even adults. There are excellent exhibits and special shows which are all fascinating.

“The Great Kid Adventure!”

There is much to see and do at the museum and at low cost! Currently, the flying monsters movie is showing which is a big hit, at least for little boys. It is a great place for everyone to learn about animals and nature from the deep blue sea to builder ants! You will not be disappointed!

“Disappointment In Exhibits”
Reviewed August 5, 2013

Of all the National museums in Ottawa, although Nature occupies an impressive venue, the overall experience was disappointing. Exhibits appear dated and not maintained, and lacking in content. Onsite parking is extraordinarily expensive with limited street parking. The other National museums, Aviation and Science are more worth the time for content, and they provide free parking.

“Nature with a touch of history”
Reviewed August 4, 2013

In addition to the exhibits within, the building is an attraction onto itself. The recent renovations have really improved the place, while maintaining the integrity of the previous building. Quite a bit of variety, from top to bottom, including exhibits about the earth itself, the creatures that currently inhabit it and those that came beforehand (read: awesome dinosaur exhibits!). As with other Ottawa museums, I prefer to visit during free periods, that is, Thursday evenings or Canada Day.
