I have been to the spa, gym and restaurants at this hotel many times but had never stayed here. So we decided to do a “girls’ night” for my best friend’s birthday so that no one would have to drive.
So we booked massages at Au Naturel Spa to start off with. As always, the spa was amazing. I had one of the most relaxing massages I have EVER had!
After the massages we checked into our double queen room. The room itself was very nicely decorated and had floor to ceiling windows with a view of the golf course. The windows even opened if you felt the need for fresh air. The bathroom was very nice with great amenities and a window looking into the room (it had blinds that could be shut!). The shower was excellent. Only complaint about the bathroom was that it was a bit dark. The lighting could have been a bit brighter. Beds were super comfortable and had lots of pillows. Wifi and parking were included in our room rate. Wifi was a bit iffy most of the time so I didn’t bother trying to use it. Indoor parking is great! Only really negative thing about the room was that we moved a chair and found a bottle of something(?) that looked like it had been there for quite a while so I'm not sure how well the room was being checked / cleaned. Everything else seemed to be okay.
We had brunch at Perspectives the next morning before checking out. As usual, the food was delicious and the service was outstanding! It is a bit overpriced though.
Staff in the hotel were very helpful and very friendly. They even apologized when I said the only thing I had to complain about was the screaming children 2 doors down from our room! That certainly wasn’t their fault.
We didn’t use the pool or gym on this visit but we have used both in the past. The gym has excellent equipment and it is usually nice and quiet. The indoor pool is really nice but usually full of children. Outdoor pool is great in the summer but they could use some more lounge chairs. They should also not allow people to leave towels on the chairs and then go away for hours.
Overall, it is a great hotel and I would highly recommend it. However, it seems to be more of a business hotel and is in Kanata and not downtown Ottawa so I would not recommend it for people with kids or anyone hoping to do sightseeing in Ottawa. It is close to the Canadian Tire Centre though if you are going to a Sens game or concert.
