I have been to the spa, gym and restaurants at this hotel many times but had never stayed here. So we decided to do a “girls’ night” for my best friend’s birthday so that no one would have to drive.
So we booked massages at Au Naturel Spa to start off with. As always, the spa was amazing. I had one of the most relaxing massages I have EVER had!
After the massages we checked into our double queen room. The room itself was very nicely decorated and had floor to ceiling windows with a view of the golf course. The windows even opened if you felt the need for fresh air. The bathroom was very nice with great amenities and a window looking into the room (it had blinds that could be shut!). The shower was excellent. Only complaint about the bathroom was that it was a bit dark. The lighting could have been a bit brighter. Beds were super comfortable and had lots of pillows. Wifi and parking were included in our room rate. Wifi was a bit iffy most of the time so I didn’t bother trying to use it. Indoor parking is great! Only really negative thing about the room was that we moved a chair and found a bottle of something(?) that looked like it had been there for quite a while so I'm not sure how well the room was being checked / cleaned. Everything else seemed to be okay.
We had brunch at Perspectives the next morning before checking out. As usual, the food was delicious and the service was outstanding! It is a bit overpriced though.
Staff in the hotel were very helpful and very friendly. They even apologized when I said the only thing I had to complain about was the screaming children 2 doors down from our room! That certainly wasn’t their fault.
We didn’t use the pool or gym on this visit but we have used both in the past. The gym has excellent equipment and it is usually nice and quiet. The indoor pool is really nice but usually full of children. Outdoor pool is great in the summer but they could use some more lounge chairs. They should also not allow people to leave towels on the chairs and then go away for hours.
Overall, it is a great hotel and I would highly recommend it. However, it seems to be more of a business hotel and is in Kanata and not downtown Ottawa so I would not recommend it for people with kids or anyone hoping to do sightseeing in Ottawa. It is close to the Canadian Tire Centre though if you are going to a Sens game or concert.

Dear lainie, A girls night at Brookstreet celebrating your friend’s birthday? What a great idea! We are delighted to hear that you and your friends had a fantastic time at the spa, enjoyed our Sunday Brunch offerings and perceived our staff as very helpful and very friendly. We apologize for the ‘surprise bottle’ you found in your guestroom, and have shared your feedback with our teams to ensure this is being addressed. Regarding your note about not recommending our hotel to families with kids – we have just introduced Family Activities on weekends, offering movie nights, crafts, games, scavenger hunts, marshmallow roasting by the fire etc. These activities, in addition to our pool offerings, games room and seasonal outdoor activities attract families with kids of all ages, and feedback has been outstanding! Again, thank you for being one of our regular guests and for taking the time to review your first stay. We hope to welcome you back in the near future!

I truly enjoy our stay at your hotel.......the price was sooo affordable. I have to say that the blinds in the bathroom was an interesting concept to say the least. It's very clean, the view was very nice and it's a very relaxing atmosphere. We enjoyed it sooo much that we are going back again next saturday :-)

This is our third stay at Brookstreet and each one has been wonderful.
Rooms
The first two times we stayed in a corner balcony room and the most recent time was in a corner deluxe room. All three rooms are well equipped, bright, and extremely well maintained.
Beds
Unbelievable, there is no other word to describe the beds. I’ve never had a more comfortable sleep in any hotel.
Service
Warm, friendly smiles from the time you arrive until the time you leave.
Food
We’ve never eaten dinner there, but the Sunday brunch is a must-do. The food is amazing and the variety is impressive, everything from the standard bacon and eggs to more exotic offerings such as duck confit and shiso rubbed salmon.
Entertainment
Give yourself a treat and head to the lounge to listen to some great jazz, you won’t be disappointed.
Hot tub, pool, fitness room
The only issue here is the design, the change rooms are on the same floor as the fitness room, but not the pool or hot tub. It’s common to see people wandering around looking for the pool, or trying to find a change room after a swim.
Spa
Among the best massage experiences in the Ottawa area, but call ahead because they book up quickly.
Price
Luxury isn't cheap so check out the prices on-line before you go to avoid any surprises. Luxury also isn't very common, and the Brookstreet is luxurious.

Room Tip: the hotel overlooks the Marshes golf course, so if you like golf pick a room that offers a view of t...

We chose the hotel for a family getaway. The cost was fair and the service was great.
It is a beautiful hotel and well maintained.
We had supper in the lounge, which offered great food and great prices for kids. My wife and I shared sushi which was exceptional - it was some of the best sushi we ever had.
Activities - Skating was fun (a very large rink) and the pool facilities were really good (great effort to "separate" the pool, jacuzzi, and kid's area). The only caveat was, it is a bit of an adventure to get to the pool - somewhat of a labyrinth to wind through to get there.
I am still surprised at the hotel location (among industrial plazas) and view (parking lots).
That said, we will be back.

We are delighted to hear that your first stay with us was a success and that you are already planning your next visit! Recently spent 5 nights at Brookstreet attending a conference. The first surprise was the $70 cab ride from the airport...ouch! The hotel was great. Nice sized King room with lots of natural light. The glass window into the bathroom to bring in the light is a nice touch but fails miserably. Bathroom lighting is great for the mood, but not for shaving. Staff were great, very helpful. Food was typical hotel fare (average quality and overpriced). From a conference standpoint the location is great for keeping everyone together. If you want to enjoy the sights and sounds of Ottawa, suggest a location closer to downtown.

Dear lhc1, Thank you for posting a review and a picture of our hotel entrance from your recent stay at Brookstreet. We are delighted to hear that you enjoyed your experience, but a little surprised about your feedback in regards to our ‘peek-a-boo’ window in the bathroom. We have received many positive reviews from guests over the last ten years commending that very same feature. Again, thank you for staying at Brookstreet. We hope to welcome you back in the near future.

We had a great dinner in the Options Jazz Lounge and the band was top notch. The room was very comfortable and well laid out. The prices, however, are too high in my opinion, particularly for wine and food, and it is ludicrous to have to pay $4 for a glass of orange juice or for a coffee with breakfast. The view from the golf course side of the hotel is very good but the hotel's location in the Kanata Research Park is a bit isolated unless you are just there for work. Perhaps the prices from food and drink are the way they are because you pretty much have to hop into your car to find somewhere else to eat and drink?

Room Tip: The golf course side has nice views if you are up high. The other sides of the hotel look at other l...

We recently spent 3 nights at the Brookstreet Hotel and it was a very pleasant experience.
Our daughter had a Highland Dance competition close by so we chose the Brookstreet solely based on current reviews, I was glad that the reviews were up to date.
We had a Junior Suite and it worked out very well for the 3 of us, the main bedroom is separated from the living room by a large well-appointed bathroom and closet. This made our daughter feel as if she had a separate bedroom and made for a peaceful experience for my wife and I.
The rooms are large enough that you don't feel like you’re in a run of the mill Hotel.
The front desk staff were very polite and very knowledgeable and quick to check us in.
Our bags were whisked up to our room without any delay or fuss.
The restaurants are very good which I will cover in a separate review.
All in all and very good experience.

Room Tip: I would recommend spending the extra and getting a Suite.
