We took a drive along the Ontario side of the river into the nations capital, and then across the Portage Bridge into Hull Quebec. We then drove along the Quebec side of the river and stopped in several places to take photos. - Beautiful countryside and so clean and fresh.

A beautiful road to take when you are in Ottawa. We were there for 5 years and it still took my breath away to drive down that road. It takes you by all the important buildings and then all the scenery as you drive down along the Ottawa River. It is also scenic from the other side, but not as high up.

Lovely area that puts you nearest the river and its environs with parliament, etc. looming above you as one walks or ride along. Unfortunately I was there at a time of some restorative work and given the unseaonally still-cold weather there was still quite a lot of ice and snow / slush covering extensive areas of the pathway (April 2013). I look forward to another time when the area is more open and warmer, but still enjoyed a cycling tour on great paths with open vistas of the lovely Ottawa river.

History and beauty. The river and cliffs. Walk it. Bike it. Sail along the river beside it. In spring it's a dozen shades of green. In autumn it's a hundred shades of red and yellow. And all of it is reflected in the lovely Ottawa River.

Ottawa River Parkway is open during our four seasons. During the Spring season the Festival of Tulips is a great place to take your children for a variety of activities along the Parkway for example boat floatila and face painting. You can see a variety of boats at Dow's Lake and get good food at the Dow's Lake and National Arts Centre Cafe.

During the Summer season the River Parkway is filled with cyclists and people with rollerblades every day of the week. On Sunday the roads are closed to traffic to give even more room for the cyclists. They also hold races for donations.

All along the River Parkway during the Fall, we have a beautiful variety of trees with a kaleidascope of colors. Great pictures for amateur and professional photographers.

The Winter Carnaval has a variety of activities on ice. The Canal is the longest skating rink in the World. We have races, professional skaters and ice sculpture contests. All along the Canal you can smell and taste our fabulous beaver tails and hot chocolat. During a two-week period in February there are scheduled events every day.

For a schedule of events contact the City of Ottawa.
We have shuttle buses on certain days.
