“Tasty Mexican”
Reviewed July 22, 2013

Tiny restaurant, good atmosphere. Fast and friendly service. Good value for the often overpriced Byward Market area. The chips and guacamole come with a side of Pico salsa, large enough for sharing. The soft tacos are great! Enchiladas, not so much: apparently, cold, unmelted cheese inside is the way they are supposed to be. Overall, highly recommended but ask questions about your meal before you order to avoid surprises.

“Good value, good simple food”
Reviewed July 14, 2013

Borracho is one of a dozen Mexican places in the Market area. It's a little hole-in-the-wall, with a tiny (but big enough when we were there) eat in section downstairs. The decor is very rustic. It was a hot Saturday afternoon at about 1:30 when we were there, but for various reasons we didn't want beer (they have Steamwhistle on tap) and had the alcohol-free sangria instead, which was very nice. The chicken enchiladas were good: three with a reasonable amount of filling (I'd have liked more), tomato, lettuce, and the Mexican feta-type cheese, on top, and a milder salsa. It came with black beans and rice, which were pleasant and fresh-tasting ($13). I had three of the Baja fish tacos: battered and deep fried pieces of fish with the usual fillings, and a choice of six salsas ($12). The salsa verde was good, but milder than the menu had led me to expect. The tortillas and soft tacos were excellent and I could believe they were made at the restaurant. The churros were excellent. The prices are in line with what one expects in the market.

“Good Food but overpriced !”
Reviewed June 26, 2013

We ordered the Fajita Bowl with Salsa Verde. It was great in taste, however they serve very small portion of salsa (we finished it in 6-8 bites) !! Any extra salsa (again an exptremely small portion) was like a $1.50 more! The veggie Quesilidas was average tasting!

“¡Best Food and Atmosphere in the Byward Market... unpretentious too!”
Reviewed June 25, 2013 via mobile

Muy delicioso, y barrato.
Very good and inexpensive too!

The service alone would make me return.

This cool little restaurant has three tiny floors.
The 'penthouse' is where you order your meal 'to go', the lower level is the seated restaurant, cozy and warm feeling here with tables and a nice well lit bar.

The ground level is their outdoor patio area, comprised of four small tables with shade and full sun.

Really good food, fast service, good price considering the pricey rent in the Byward Market.

Good beer list, wine, etc... Margarita Tuesday special at $4.50 each.

A really unique restaurant created by the friendly staff at Burrito Borracho.

Best burrito in Ottawa, easily!

Enjoy!

¡Disfruta!

“Fantastic burritos”
Reviewed June 23, 2013

Great burritos, and open late. Great place!

Very conveniently located for picking up a burrito after being out for drinks in the market. Unlike the ubiquitous shawarma and pizza places, however, it actually serves great food.
