“Very spacious rooms, great location”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 14, 2013

Stayed here for a week with my partner. We were given a large room with a kitchenette and two double beds. On the surface appeared to be very clean and well kept. Only issue was on clearing the room to check out, we found a used condom under the bed. Had we found this at the start of the week we probably would have complained - but as we were checking out we didn't see the point. Other than this the stay was good.

Great location and well within walking distance of the Ottawa sights. The staff were very friendly and helpful. If you have any questions about the local area, then the man at the front near the elevators was very happy to help!

I stayed at this Holiday Inn for six nights in July, 2013. It is just a block west of the beautiful Rideau Canal and about a fifteen minute walk from Parliament Hill. It's tucked away on a side street that's quiet and residential, but still close to most things. I bought a three-day pass for a tour bus that took me wherever I needed to go that was out of walking distance. The Byward market is close by (a bit father than Parliament Hill). Although I wasn't out really late in the evening, I felt safe walking in this area.

The hotel is immaculate and our room was huge! It had two double beds and a sofa bed. There was a desk in the room and also a small kitchenette with a bar fridge, microwave, sink, toaster, kettle, coffee maker, plates, bowls, mugs, glasses and cutlery.

The staff are awesome. Without exception, every single staff member I encountered greeted me in a friendly manner. Front desk staff were friendly and efficient, happy to answer questions and met requests happily.

I would not hesitate to stay here again and would recommend it without reservation.

Underground parking is available for an extra cost, but worth it b/c we were able to leave the car and not worry about it.

Room Tip: Rooms face south and north, and would, I think, be equally comfortable with similar views. We were o...

Can recommend this hotel. It's in a good location near to 'downtown', just off Elgin Street, a popular area where there's plenty of restaurants and pubs. To walk to the 'heart' of town, e.g Parliament Buildings, &/or Rideau Centre it's about 20 minutes. You can walk either straight up Elgin St., or, a prettier alternative, along the Rideau Canal. Breakfast wasn't included in our city break, but we found a very suitable place a couple of blocks away on the corner of Cooper & Elgin Streets - The Mayflower. Hotel is very comfortable, beds and pillows lovely! I went with family, stayed in a room with a kitchenette with one family member, and hotel staff put the other up in the room just opposite us. Kitchenette useful, also ironing board & iron, plus washer and dryer on 10th floor. Plenty or space in our rooms. Staff really friendly and helpful. Free internet access for hotel guests, entry to room via hotel room card key. Only downside was the miserable grumpy man in the restaurant. Duty Manager soon picked up on this when I checked out, handing over the small survey form, he apologised most sincerely and assured us he'd speak with the guy. Apart from that - perfect!

Room Tip: We stayed in the back of the hotel, our other relative the front. However, both rooms seemed very qu...

This older Holiday Inn located in a quiet Ottawa neighborhood fairly near the city center is in desperate need of upgrading. Carpeting, drapes, bathrooms—they're all worn. The air conditioning system worked poorly or not at all in our room. The wifi is weak. There's no pool. The parking facilities are very tight and often space was not available.

Based on the physical plant alone, the hotel would rate one star, maybe two.

However, during our stay, the staff was exceptional and the place was spotless, which is worth a couple stars on its own. Everyone we encountered, from front desk staff to housekeeping to room service to bell service, was extraordinarily friendly and helpful. The hotel restaurant surprised us as well: during our experiences with breakfast and dinner, the service and food were top-notch.

If the facility is ever upgraded to the level of the staff, this would be a fantastic hotel for families. As it is now—well, if plush accommodations are important to you, look elsewhere. If you appreciate a clean room and a friendly, efficient staff (and you don't mind air conditioning that isn't able to muster any temperatures below 25C), the Holiday Inn is a good value.

The hotel is downtown Ottawa close to lots of great attractions. The staff were all very helpful and professional. We had a huge room with comfortable beds and a large bathroom. Could hear some hallway noise.
The parking garage (which you pay extra to use) is dim and tight and flooded when it rained. And the hallway to the parking garage is long and windy with heavy doors and a series of steps and awkward to carry luggage through.
Our group had breakfast specially made for us. It was quite good but strange. Day 1, eggs with no meat, day 2 meat (bacon and sausage) with no eggs. Good pastries and fruit. Tiny coffee cups. Had to make a lot of trips back.
This is a great location to use as a base to explore Ottawa. It is close to the canal where bikes can be rented. There are lots of restaurants in the area.

We stayed here during our road trip. The location is ok, meaning that city center and the most important sightseeing attractions, like the parliament hill are within walking distance (at least for us European which are use to walk more than 10 minutes :-) ). The hotel is clean and staff is friendly, but the infrastructure needs a renovation. Overall, a simple and good hotel.

Room Tip: We had a executive room on floor 17. Try to get one, they are large!

We stayed here in July and enjoyed our stayed.
Good Points:
- Great space, the room was very large and the kitchenette was helpful.
- Great location - We walked to Parliament Hill in about 1/2 hour with slow children in tow :)
- Lots of restaurants and stores very close
- Staff were friendly and helpful

Not Awesome Points
- The parking garage looks really run down and can be hard to park in if you have a car bigger than a mini ;-0
- Coffee - The room coffee is Mother Parker or something, if you like it great but if you want to get other coffee, the restaurant downstairs charges about $3.25 for a cup and I personally was feeling too cheap for this so had to wait till we were out and about to get a good cup. I really don't get why more hotels don't have good coffee available in the lobby as it just makes such a difference.
- Towels - We booked with 5 people (2 Adults, 3 Children) in our room but the room only stocked three bath towels. I could definitely have asked for more but never got around to it...and was just an annoyance when trying to get everyone clean.
- Double beds - Very comfortable but with young children it meant for a bit of a squish

We had a great time in Ottawa and the Hotel was a good base for seeing lots of attractions.
