“Recent stay at Auberge The King Edward Bed and Breakfast”

We recently stayed at this wonderful B & B, located on King Edward way in downtown Ottawa. We found the accomodations lovely, the location very convenient and our host, Richard, more than delightful. The room was spacious, clean, beautifully appointed, and our host provided us with a scrumptious breakfast each morning. He is also quite knowledgeable about attractions in the city as well as the history of Ottawa. We would definitely stay there again and would recommend this B & B for fellow travelers. Although just here for one night, my stay at the Auberge King Edward was pleasant and memorable. Close to downtown and the Byward Market make it ideal for central Ottawa touring.
Leave your car behind the B&B and most everything is walkable. A quick dinner just across the street and around the corner at the Royal Oak Pub was very pleasant.

I stayed in the Burgundy room with a porch at the back of the home. A shared bath was not an issue for me, but the front room with it's own bath and porch overlooking King Edward would have been a better choice. The room and bed were comfortable and a flat screen tv was a plus. Richard as the host was very friendly and helpful and had many great suggestions on where to go and what to do. As always a delight is sharing breakfast with other travellers - in my case very nice folks from PEI and Connecticut. There were options at breakfast including help yourself bowl of fresh cut fruit, yogourt, OJ, coffee, fresh baked croissants and muffins, and a cheddar and fresh asparagus omelette. Very nice! The 'goldendoodle' house dog is very friendly and not a bother at all. Parking is free behind the house, but there are 2 long spots for 4 cars so the people in first will need later arrivals to move their cars to allow you to leave.

Everything was an 8 or 9 out of 10. Sure the house could use a little paint here and some wallpaper re-glued there, and seat cushions would be nice for the outdoor furniture, but overall it's a great place that I recommend highly.

Room Tip: Room at the front of the house with ensuite bath is the best choice

This is one the best B&Bs we have ever stayed in, and certainly had the most charming and interesting host. Richard is a multi-talented connoisseur of art and antiques. Be sure to examine the superb paintings and photographs on the ground floor, and ask to see his travelogue of India, which highlights Richard's gift as a photographer. Breakfast was excellent, our bed was comfortable, the water was hot for our showers. The house is close to everything downtown, and best of all, parking was free. Thanks very much for your hospitality kind sir, we shall return...

Room Tip: Richard has three rooms, two with shared bathroom offer very good value.

My husband and I just returned home after a trip that included 3 nights in Ottawa at the King Edward B&B. Upon arrival we were greeted by Richard and his beautiful Golden Doodle Sunny :) Richard took out a map of Ottawa and showed us where all the interesting sights and visits would be. He also recommended a lot of running and biking routes for us - they were beautiful sights we would have missed if we had planned our routes ourselves. We stayed in the Tower Room - a very large room with a Queen sized bed, sitting area, walk in closet (with mini fridge), balcony, and full bath with claw foot tub. The house itself is just beautiful with lots of antiques and stained glass adorning the windows. The B&B is in the heart of Ottawa, a short walk from Byward Market and Parliament Hill. Breakfast each AM was superb! Over our stay we were charmed by Sunny - he's such a happy and polite pup! Highly recommend this B&B - honestly why would you stay anywhere else?

Loved this gorgeous old historical Ottawa home, decorated with gorgeous antiques and beautifully refinished in it's period grandeur. Richard and Sunny are wonderful hosts and roll out the red carpet for their guests. Richard, being a cyclists himself, provided very useful area info for my short cycle holiday. Loved eating breakfast with the other guests around the big dining room table and sharing travel stories and adventures. Can't wait to return!

Room Tip: The Burgundy Room is in the back and has it's own balcony which enjoys the morning sun.

We stayed here for three nights and loved it. We had the Tower Room which had beautiful furnishings and decorations and its own bathroom and small fridge. It had a small couch for relaxing but what we really enjoyed was being able to sit on the small balcony overlooking the street and the lovely garden. The sitting room downstairs was available for our use. Every time we looked around the house we saw something different from the wonderful paintings to the many things Richard has collected in his travels. The breakfasts were really "five star" and conversation with other guests and Richard had us lingering at the table for far too long sometimes. The location meant you could walk everywhere and Richard armed you with a map and all the information and advice to make the most of your time in Ottawa. Sunny the dog is an attraction in itself and even in the three days we were there we fell in love with him.

Location, location, location. The King Edward B & B has it ! It's a short walk to the many sites that tourists visiting Ottawa will want to see. Richard went above and beyond to provide information and directions to help us get the most enjoyment out of our stay. His dog Sunny is an excellent greeter. We stayed in the Tower room, which was lovely. We especially enjoyed sitting on the balcony overlooking his wonderful gardens. The entire house has been restored to it's original beauty and character. A real gem.

Room Tip: The Tower room is spacious and has a private bath and balcony.
