Very pretty, peaceful park next to Parliament Hill and overlooking the Ottawa River. A great place for a walk, a rest, or a picnic.

“Beautiful park”
Reviewed August 8, 2014

This is a really lovely park with great views of the Parliament buildings and the river. You'll pass it walking from Parliament or Byward Market towards the National Gallery or the Mint. It's worth it to stop, rest, and enjoy the views.

“Beautiful place with a nice view”
Reviewed August 8, 2014

This is a nice park downtown Ottawa with a nice view of the Parliament and the Ottawa river. Across the river you can see the Museum of Civilization which is also very beautiful. Go for a walk or seat and relax.

“Nice park with view of parliament & river”
Reviewed July 27, 2014

This part is directly behind the Chateau Laurier .

The park is pretty but not huge. It has nice views of parliament hill, the museum of civilization across across the river in Quebec.

Tulips - During the tulip festival there are lots of tulips throughout the park.

During the hot summer days lots of people come to relax in the park.

There is a toilet at the end of the park closest to the Art Gallery - but you can also go across the street to the art gallery :)

TIP
====
- You can either access it via walking up Mackenzie King Blvd or between the Chateau Laurier and the Canal there are stairs down next to the hotel, it leads to a large patio overlooking the looks, keep going and you enter the park.

- If you are heading to the National Gallery from the Chateau or a hotel near parliament consider taking the above route. It's pretty - coming back you can go along Sussex and into the market area for eats :)

- For July 1 this is also a nice area to watch the fireworks which shoot off right behind the Art Gallery

“Nice grounds, good for a walk”
Reviewed July 15, 2014

Beautifully maintained park between Chateau Laurier and the National Gallery. Wonderful view of the river ending at the Champlain statue with a hundred wide steps. Some fun sculptures and sitting areas in the park too. Borders on the locks/canal way with an awesome view of everything around. Steps to Byward Market for restaurants, bars, shopping, etc.

Note--date of visit is approximate.
