“Hidden gem”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 6, 2012

This is a great spot for a walk or a picnic. There's lot's of parking, washrooms, water fountains, and groomed walking trails along the river and through the woods. It's in the middle of the city and it's nearly impossible to get lost. There's a canteen for lunch-type fast food and ice cream. Standing by the rails, you can feel the mist from the falls. It's just as impressive in winter.

“worth a visit”

This is a pretty spot to visit - especially in the spring when the runoff raises the water levels on the Rideau River, and the falls are at their most spectacular.

“One of the best semi hidden treasures of Ottawa”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 3, 2012

Rocks, over 500 Million years old. Historical junction where the Rideau River and Rideau Canal separate. Good fishing. The water levels change with the seasons and the volume of water at times is amazing. Nice walk with pictures of building the dam there and why it is named Hog's Back Falls. Absolutely one of my favourite places in Ottawa

“Pretty part of the Col By roadway near Carleton University”

Lots of local wildlife too. Just steps from the university main campus... should be part of any tour if you're thinking about attending this university.

Loved the fact that right in the city was this spectacular oasis. Got some great photos! Got a great walk along the river. A good place for a family outing.
