I had been working in Ottawa for a few months when my parents and sister flew in from Western Canada and my sister from Europe. The huge suites were wonderful for a grown family. We could make and eat dinner in the kitchen/dining area, talk and catch up on the couches and then head to bed. Location was convenient, just 2 blocks down and about 4 blocks over from the Parliament buildings. Though there is not much directly surrounding the hotel, it is all within walking distance. Beds were large, comfortable and clean. Shower had good water pressure. Rooms were quiet at night and had a small window to let in fresh air.
On the downside, the free internet worked sporadically (it mostly didn't) and wasn't helped by a plug-in the front desk lended us for a $200 deposit. Though we were paying for four people per night, we only ever got 2 towels. Also, cleanliness was poor when we first checked in (i.e., dirt and an ibuprofen tablet on the bathroom floor). It got better throughout the duration of our stay and I never felt uncomfortable because of uncleanliness again. Finally, the woman at the front desk tried to overcharge us for our stay and never apologized once it was straightened out.
Overall, a better than average hotel because of location and room size.More
