“Perfect for a Conference”
Reviewed January 18, 2013

Attended a two day conference at the Delta Ottaw City Centre. Rooms, meals and conference facilities were all very good. The rooms have been recently upgraded and were nicely appointed. All of the meals were really great. I was able to enjoy a glass of wine and some excellent tuna and shrimp appetizers in the lounge. Service was great and the people were friendly.

Room Tip: Ask for a room that is not right next to the elevators.

My husband and I stay regularly at Delta hotels accross Canada. The previous Delta was like our home away from home. This new location has wonderful views and a great pool. Renovations at this new location look good but small things can spoil the experience. The tap in the bathroom sink is much too close to the edge so that water goes all over the counter top when you wash your hands. Forget washing your hair in the sink. The closet is very small (room for 3 dresses or 2 suits only) and with a inner cupboard (holding coffee pot, etc.) which takes up half the space. Fan in room runs continually on high even when you try to change the settings so you wake up with a very dry throat. There is only one small towel rack to hang up three bath towels. The bathroom door is in your way when you sit on the toilet. There seem to be some little critters scratching around in the ceiling. There are no king-size beds available in the suites. As others have mentioned, you can hear your neighbours very clearly from the living room part of the suite. Turn down service could include at least 2 chocolates when there are 2 people in the room. There is no question that service is always superior at the Delta hotels and this one is no exception.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you very much for your comment about your last stay at the Delta Ottawa City Centre.
We apologize for the inconvenience with the bathroom sink and the heater in the room. We appreciate our guests’ patience with the tap issue. We are planning to change them this year since they are too short for the sink. I will share your concern about the heater setting with our Engineering team to ensure the quality sleep for our guests.

We are sorry to hear that the size of the bathroom did not meet your expectation. Our design team tried to maximize the space for the bedroom resulting less space for the bathroom.

We are glad that you enjoyed the view from the room and pool during your stay. We look forward to welcoming you back in the near future.

Staying here right now actually and the people in the room beside us through the adjacent doors are very loud. Called front desk and they had security call them. Still loud. Even at a regular conversation level they sound like we are in the same room. If you have a room with an adjoining door, no privacy.

Stay away!!

This was our first stay at Delta Ottawa. We had a free 2 night stay with our air miles, and were delighted on check-in to be greeted warmly and upgraded to a king deluxe room on 17th floor.
First impression in room was worn, dirty carpet. Tricky to keep carpet looking plush in slushy and snowy Ottawa! They should consider boot mats in the rooms. King bed was comfortable and firm. Duvet cover with a crisp white sheet looked clean. Remote for television was old and dirty and rather difficult to use (no numbers to punch in and up down function flakey). Heating system a little too clunky for my liking. Heard it go on and off all night. Bathroom modern and new. Glass shower stall with small tiles on floor. You may want to consider water shoes, as this style shower floor is breeding ground for viruses (like gym locker room floors). Every other aspect of washroom looked very clean and shiny.
However... having a Tim Horton's in the lobby to get morning coffee in our room was a real treat! No need to deal with the frigid outdoors. A real plus!
Had no time to use fitness centre or room service, but all great looking services.
Parking pass with in/out priviledges helpful and ample parking right by the elevator during our stay.Nothing at all wrong with this hotel, but location a bit far for winter walking to trendy Byward Market. Might consider staying closer to that spot next time if anything just for more restaurant selection.

Room Tip: Ask if there are any rooms with a quieter heating system.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you very much for the feedback regarding your last stay at the Delta Ottawa City Centre. We are glad that you enjoyed the comfortable bed in our Mode Deluxe room. The close proximity to the Tim Horton is appreciated by many of our guests, especially during the cold winter time.

We apologize for the inconvenience with the remote control. We appreciate your suggestion regarding some of the features in the room. I will share your suggestion with the Housekeeping and Engineering team.

We hope to see you soon in the near future.

Lots of plus at this hotel. The staff from the front desk to the cleaning staff to Bellman are outstanding. The breakfast both in the dinning lounge and the club lounge is great. The lobby which is 2 level is great. There are a number of small things that are very distrubing and anoying. The heaters in the room have not been updated and still clunk and bang all through the night. The wi fi service is below average and require the use of the Tech assistance a number of time in our week stay. We were on the 25 floor and during the week end there were events in the penthouse lounge with loud music until after midnight that prevented any sleep. We would likely look for another property on our next trip due to these small but anoying factors.

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you very much for your feedback about your last stay at the Delta Ottawa City Centre. First of all, we apologize for the inconvenience that you experienced at the hotel with the noise and internet connection.

Our engineering and Technical support teams are aware of the situation with the heater and internet. The teams are working on the improvement of the internet connection and reduction of the noise level from the heater.

To avoid the noise from events on the Penthouse, we would like to recommend you to stay on the lower Club floor. You can still enjoy all the amenities from the Club room and avoid noise in case that there are events on the Penthouse.

We are glad that you enjoyed the excellent services from our staff. We are proud of our team for their effort to provide excellent guest services.

We hope to welcome you back in the near future.

I have stayed at the Delta City Centre many times when it was across the street and looking forward to staying at the new location. I wasn't disappointed.
Overall, I like the new hotel...it's all shiny and new. That said, the one thing that stood out above a lot of other hotels I have stayed at was the lobby at the old location. I usually stayed there around Xmas and the lobby was so warm and inviting with the fireplace, it brought you mind of a small boutique hotel. The lobby at the new hotel however is quite stark and very cold by comparison. It was the only part of the hotel that I did not enjoy.
I had a king room on the 19th floor and it was very nice. It wasn't huge but certainly comfortable. The bed was very comfortable. The bathroom was very nice...I like the new shower stalls. I had no problem with the tap in the bathroom as has been mentioned by others here so they must have fixed that issue...at least in the room I had.
I also love that it is attached to Tim Hortons as it was minus 16 degrees Celsius during my stay.
I did find the bar prices a bit on the high side as well.
The staff were all very friendly and helpful as I have come to expect from the Delta City Centre.
I have no problem recommending this hotel to either business travellers or leisure travellers.

Room Tip: I was on the 19th floor facing the Ottawa River. Great view for sure!

Dear Valued Guest,

Thank you very much for your comment about your last stay at the Delta Ottawa City Centre.
We are happy that you enjoyed our new Mode room with a comfortable bed.

Our new lobby is more modern than the one at the old location. However, LIFT, our restaurant has a decorative fireplace screen, which creates similar warm ambiance.

We are very proud of our staff for the effort to provide outstanding services for our guests.

We look forward to welcoming you back at the Delta Ottawa City Centre in the near future.

We travel to the Ottawa area quite often. We stayed at the Delta City Centre before renovations, during renovations and on our last trip we were happy to learn renovations are finally complete. The changes are unbelievable and the hotel is beautiful.

The rooms are very modern. The windows are wall to wall and almost floor to ceiling. The beds are comfortable and I always sleep great.

The service is always top notch and we have gotten to know some of the employees. You can ask them anything and they will do their best to help you or cater to any of your needs.

There is an option to have access to the top floor lounge, I am not sure how much extra it is to add but I promise you it is worth it. The view is amazing (we watched a thunder and lightening storm there on a trip last summer). There is also complimentary breakfast/evening hors d'oeuvres. Take note of the times they are offered, I am not 100% on the exact times right now.

The hotel is located just a short walk to Parliament Hill, the Canal and the Mall. The Byward Market is a little farther but we still walk there.

Ottawa is an amazing city, we love to visit and we can't imagine staying anywhere other than The Delta City Centre.

Room Tip: I am not sure if all of the rooms are renovated yet, but if they aren't ask for a renovated room...
