My son's graduation trip was there in the heat wave on June 20-22, the air conditioning was not working and they did nothing to compensate them. It seemed like they were not in a rush to get it repaired as it was only a bunch of grade 8's staying there.

Not impressed!!

We had the opportunity to stay at Saint Paul's University Residence and Conference Center for four nights from May 10th and checking out on the morning of May 14th. What a wonderful find. The reservations were made by one of our group so I was not sure what to expect from a university residence. Well I can tell you college residences have sure changed from my day. Our room consisted of two good sized bedrooms seperated by a kitchen area. The bedrooms each had a comfortable double bed, large desk with phone and a tv. Each bedroom and the kitchen area had large picture windows that looked out on a lovely games field, very green and lush. The kitchen area had a full size fridge and a sink and microwave. They do not provide utensils so bring along some paper plates and plastic forks to use. The fridge was so handy to keep our supplies to make sandwiches and keep our drinks nice and cold. We also ordered food in for two nights so it really kept our cost down on the trip. Down the hall there is an ice machine too. There is a nice big table in the kitchen where you can eat as well. Everything was spotless.
There is a shared bathroom for the two bedrooms as well. The bathroom is a very good size with a a shower only (no tub). They supplied soap and shampoo, towels ect. It was also very clean.
In the morning they have a lovely continental breatkfast. They had just about anything you wanted. Bagels, toast, ceral, fruit, all types of juices, coffee and tea. There is also a variety of jams, and cream cheeze supplied. It was much, much nicer than most of the breakfasts that I have seen. The breakfast room itself is lovely and bright with all picture windows facing out on the back yard area. Beautiful big trees and a great place to enjoy your meal outside on a nice day.
The location was amazing. The residence is in a lovely residential area of Ottawa. Plus you are a very short distance from downtown. At the most a 10 minute ride to Parliment Hill. Could not be situated more perfectly.
The front desk staff were helpful and friendly and did their best to accomodate any request or questions that you might have. They certainly try to make you feel welcome and comfortable.
All in all our experiance was much more than I could have ever imagined. I have given it a five not because I feel that it is a 5 star hotel (although I have been in 5 star hotels that were not this nice) but because of the value that you get for your money. It is perfect for families and even two couples travelling together. A group of friends would also find this the perfect way to stay in Ottawa. We had a rather large group and we all were so happy with our accomodations.
Thanks Saint Paul's for making our visit so wonderful. I'm already planning my next visit.

If a 30-minute walk, along the Rideau canal, to downtown Ottawa paints an interesting picture, then staying at the low budget Saint Paul's University Residence should be a serious consideration. Two large bedrooms, each with a double bed, and separated by a kitchenette, provided ample space for our recent 2-night stay. The young staff were helpful, and the included continental breakfast was enough to start the day. This will certainly be in our plans when we next travel to Ottawa.

If you're looking for a basic room, this place is good. Its essentially a student rez converted to hotel. The place is clean but furnishings etc are again, basic.

Complimentary breakfast buffet:
-cereal, milk, bagels, yogurt, juices, coffee/tea

Rooms are reasonably sized and decent. They have tv, fridge, micowave. No wireless, but wired internet is there. bathrooms have shampoo, soap, towels.

I'd suggest this for a single person who needs a place to stay for a night or two (ie conference, etc in Ottawa) or for a family of 3-4 who are staying longer and dont want to pay big bucks.

So, it costs little but its decent for the price.

Room Tip: theres a pizza store about 5 mins walk north on main street for a quick bite
