Kids liked the cockpit and the uniforms and helmets they could try on. There were an amazing number of tanks, trucks and planes.

“A walk through history”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 19, 2013

A great museum taking about 4 hours to complete. The building is uniquely shaped but spacious on the inside. The exhibits are organized in chronological order starting in the 1800's through to modern conflicts. Great props and stories are found around every corner, and I really enjoyed the ancestry computer that have for patrons to use. The only thing stopping this from being a five out of five review was the in house dining at "The Mess". Service and ordering were difficult with menus hard to locate.

“Always a stop in Ottawa”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 18, 2013

I never seem to tire of visiting the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa. Maybe it's being the son of a WWII veteran. Maybe it was because my father also was among the Canadian peacekeeping forces in Egypt and Cyprus. Maybe it's because I lived on military bases across Canada and Germany as a kid.

The Canadian War Museum is one of the best laid out war museums you will find. Each significant point of conflict in Canadian history is dealt with in a thoughtful, visual and dramatic manner. You can't come out of there without a significant appreciation for the sacrifices made by men and women through our Canadian history.

Don't forget to visit the display of Vimy Ridge memorial sculpture casts located at the back of the building, on your way to an amazing display of military vehicles from WWI through to recent comflicts and peacekeeping missions.

Don't forget to bring the kids!
On the recent trip the museum was full of fresh faced young soldiers and cadets.
Don't forget to thank a soldier and vet!

I have learned a lot about the participation of our Canadian soldiers and saw the danger they had to face.
